Is Facebook lying about paid advert performance?

I'm running a Facebook ad as we speak, attempting to drive traffic to my website and an article I've wrote.

According to the stats, my ad has had over 40 people clicking on it which should take them to my website to read the article, now as I'm running the Facebook Like Jacker plugin I should have therefore seen over 40 new likes to my FB page as a result of these clicks (I have the settings set to Like-Jack 100% of visitors). However, I've only had about 15 likes on my Facebook page so far...

What's your opinion on this?

I don't believe that over 25 people clicked my article then backed away from being like-jacked, there's no reason for that to happen as I've made the like-jacking look as natural as possible. I also don't believe the problem is Like-Jacker itself, I've got over 500 likes on the page as a result of it.

Is Facebook exaggerating the amount of clicks my ad has received possibly?

PS: My objective isn't to gain likes for the page, I'm merely using this as a KPI to assess how many people are reading the article - and yes, I use Bitly to track clicks on my links etc etc.

Cheers.

if it were true, this is something that would be all over the news 'facebook rips off customers''
i doubt facebooks shorts on clicks. but if they do, oh boy...

Haha yeah I know man, I was only being half serious. But from what I can gather I am coming up short somewhere, perhaps what they qualify as 'link clicks' - as they put it - differ from what the rest of us do?

we have never had much luck from them. At most we get likes to the ad or people like the Facebook page. Very few converted for us. Could have been the ads but its not something that we are going to keep spending money on.

I believe the performance isnt what they say. Ive never been able to show a match or even a close match between what FB says in their ad analytics compared to google analytics

Same here. I was running ads for a while but my analytics never showed even close to what FB had my clicks at. I read some articles about it and they claim it is a mix of things: competitors bots clicking your ad, people clicking back immediately, various other things I can't recall but seemed somewhat plausible.

Still sucks though

See, with the offer I'm promoting I've made over 150 conversion from it from group posting the link with fake accounts, so I thought I'd try it by creating an ad with the page - no conversions so far and reach of over 1500 people.... apparently. I'll rework my ads and targeting etc to see what I can come up with before I give up on it.

I'll check out the analytics tomorrow but tbh, I can use the lack of likes with Like-Jacker as a good indicator that the stats provided by Facebook aint what they say it is.

Hmm I have no real competitors doing exactly what I'm doing though, to me, bots might be the more realistic answer for it... Considering I have fake accounts myself lol, I don't think my software can actually clink on links automatically though.

From what I know, LikeJacker only jakes desktop users. That is why you have only 15 likes.

Cheers for the suggestion mate but LikeJacker does indeed work on mobile, I've tested it myself and around 80% of my traffic is from mobile, plus this ad campaign is only targeting mobile users.

Unless they've recently changed something that you know of?

Hmm, not sure why that is mate, test it out on your phone. Visit your website (after you've deleted cookies) and see if it works on yourself. It does for me.

Okay I guess I should retract what I said earlier, when I stopped the ad campaign I had 58 link clicks and when I just checked the updated Google Analytics for yesterday and I had 56 new sessions, so that seems a bit more accurate.

Now I just need to work on the fact that I had 58 clicks and 0 conversions lol :(:p.

There must be something going on with Like-Jacker because I ended up with 30 new likes to the page. I'll try again tomorrow but not use Like-Jacker to see if conversions increase.

If you like jack too much Facebook adds a thing about confirming likes"are you sure you want to like this page" to avoid jacking. Set the jacker to a lower percent then eventually move it up

Ahhh I never realised that! Cheers for the heads up Bro!

Facebook puts in a confirm button on the page.

Once user clicks there comes a small popup ontop with a "confirm" button. Its random and fucks up the conversion

The stats accuracy it's +99%
The like jacker it's just doesnt work how you suppose. They need to click on an object (or any object) from your page, depends how you made the settings.
try google analytics

that's because your domain doesnt have reputation and alexa rank

Yeah it must only show up to about half of the people who do it, I got about 30 likes from 60 odd visits so that makes sense! Will switch it off today because I should have got at least 1 conversion...

Yeah I know bro, but I made the 'object' look believable as fuck, my pop up says "our website uses cookies, by closing this box you agree to using cookies", or something like that. So in my opinion 95% of traffic should click to close the box, rather than return to the previous page!

I don't need these likes anyway so I'm just going to turn it off for the time being.

Cheers for your help guys!

Yeah, it will will be OK if you slow down, its either way won't end up giving 100% conversion like it used to

Its so frustrating man, check the below image:

I got 120 visits from doing group posting and about 15 conversions, when I ran the advert I got 60 visits and 0 conversions, plus spent £20 for the privilege o_O

I'll rethink my targeting/lead in for the ad and retry

99% of webmasters out there are unable to prove this or check it.

Some scandals in other cases (not FB) took 5 to 6 years to come out cuz finally one big advertiser proved it and went public.

Heck : car makers were cheating the emissions system for a decade and nobody knew. Because home owners do'nt know how to check.

99% of webmaters are using wix or tumblr or facebook pages they have no means to measure anything. They can't read an access log to save their lives.

I posted just days ago about how the "invite" people to like your page button on posts is placebo. On one particular post with over 17K likes, I invited over 1000 people manually, not bot, and got ZERO response......not ONE new like????The I buy one $ dollar in boost and get 100 new likes???? WTF???? It's 100% pay to play.

FB is playing lots of games and their profits are skyrocketing. Because 99% of the webmasters paying them to play have no idea.
