What am I doing wrong?

https://gameofthronesaddict.myshopify.com/ I changed a lot of things and now I stuggle with making my shop look better on mobile device. The FEATURED PRODUCTS and the items below were added with a code thanks to a shopify employee that had experience in coding and It looks better now. Does anyone have any ideas how I can make it look better on mobile phones. I'll also buy a custom domain soon. Thanks again!

If you're okay with editing your own code you can set rules that will alter size and or what's displayed based on screen size.

If you aren't good with coding you can try your hand at using a responsive theme.

I created a Shopify store today in the Game of Thrones niche and have around 30 items. I also think my site looks surprisingly good. The problem is I don't really have an idea how to advertise the Facebook posts properly. I created a page dedicated to the site and promoted a post of mine with $5.00 targeting US residing women aged 21-45y.o with estimated daily reach 220-770 people:

I started it 3 hours ago and have only reached 122 people and have absolutely 0 engagement. No like,no page visit,no anything. The 2 likes are from me and a friend. What seems to be my mistake guys? And do you think I should target larger interest groups?

Assuming you are not already doing so (you didn't mention you were), within Facebook ads, you can target people who like specific pages or 'things'. Consider setting a broader age range and use 'Detailed Targeting' to include people who like GOT (and/or characters on the show). That gets rid of people who fall within your age/location bracket but who have never seen or have no interest in the show.

Also what you need to keep in mind, and this is the shittiest part that I just recently found out.

Sooner or later you will need to register your company, as you found out yourself, Shopify has different payment options but they are all restricted to a certain point until you can verify you have a registered company.

So if you planning one day to earn more than $2500,- a year, sooner or later the system will force you to go legit.

How long can I stay under their radar before I have to register a company?

Depends how well your business goes but for you at the moment I wouldn't worry too much because if I am honest with you, I don't think you will score big with the concept you have now which is ok as it's all part of the learning process.

I am also testing shopify at the moment and it's a shitload more work then i expected for my purpose, I also want to offer multiple payment gateways like bitcoin and worldwide creditcard and you can all register them without problems but they all limited, even my bitcoin payment is limited until i send them my ID and a VAT number .

This is also the reason I believe many many dropshipping businesses are failing within a few months, people that sell software like oberlo, shopify etc make it looks like it's easy but once you want to get serious with it a LOT more comes to play, a LOT of registering, coding, marketing etc that combined with already sloppy design and no eye for creativity makes people fail hard.

People that promote dropshipping tell it's easy but if you actually want to make a living out of it it's hard work! Even more than a steady job!

this is what is it to have a real business. One day you realize scalability has a cost and not everything scales. The mentality that was sold for a while "Grats you made 1$, replicate it 10 times to get 10$" doesn't exist. So is the passive income. There is never passive income, you always end up working for it. Yes you made money when you slept selling stuff, the next day you have to pack, ship, answer question/complais, improve, handle marketing etc.

A lot of good advice in this thread - what I want to add is somebody said that it's shitty advice to split test 10 different ad copies - it is not. If he has not gotten even a single clicks (though his stats are too low anyways) then the problem IS his adcopy and split testing is the way to improve in the CTR area.. though I would suggest not taking 10 different ad copies but more like 5 - get the best one and then start split testing it against minor changes.

I c ouldn't have said it better myself! And if you dropshipping it doesn't become easier unless you have a item that no1 has, cumming 10 times in 60 seconds stimulator or something crazy :D

I partially disagree with you.

If you just start out (most of us start almost broke), already spend money on software, domain and ads and you had zero ROI, then split testing 10 more ads is shitty advice! If you got a bigger budget then yeah, good advice but most of us start broke because most people that have money live their lives and most of them have never heard of a forum like BHW or IM because they actually got a life, wife, kids, a job :D (yes i said it!)

It will surprise you, as it did me recently that most people have basic computer/internet knowledge. Checking their taxes, email and bank account and that's it for most people :)

If you got a small budget or no budget, there is no such thing, and let me repeat that, no such thing as a quick method.

And some people gonna hate me for it, but 9 out of 10 guides, tutorials, e-docs, below, let's say a $100,- that has a title like "$100,- a day" or even "50,- a day" is all bullshit!

I know because I bought a couple orf 2 down the way.

Yes! You can make $50,- to a $100,-+ a day,

"Wait what? Didn't you just say it was bullshit?"

Yes! Those titles are bullshit! There is no quick way but if you invest time and energy you can get somewhere!

Just because you don't got a lot of money to invest doesn't mean you can't reach your goal, it will just take longer!

Well, if you don't have money they you should stay away from paid advertising in the first place. There is no way to succeed if he can't afford to split test his ad copy. Making his site better is only gonna help him if he can drive the traffic for free.

Ok, keep in mind, I am pretty much straight forward usually but I don't mean it in a bad way :D plus TBH I normally don't like to give these tips because although basic and most of the times logical it's those small things that keeps me ahead of the competition but I am in a good mood :p

As i already said, the url, there are actually people and I am one of them, if I see "yourname.myshopify.com" I don't even bother to look what you got, for me, with a domain url like that looks unprofessional.

Which brings me to "yourname" it's pretty long already and adding the shopify extension, it's too long man! Imagine I thought your shop was great and a friend ask me, where did you get that? I would need to tell him, "Yeah, from yourverylongname.myshopify.com" just doesn't roll well on the tongue.

Also, you say your niche is GOT and yet I see stuff from batman, harry potter, grand theft auto, star wars lol, most of it are necklaces and keychains so either shift your niche to that or stick with GOT.

Your homepage meta states: Free game of thrones products.. but when I check your items some have prices on them and others say $0,00,- this is a typical noob mistake and seen many do it and having the same problems as you. It's unclear for customers what is going on and they will most likely assume that the website is broken or under construction/testing phase. Also these green sale images are on top of the "xx% off" tags so you can't read what they say.

The "about us" and "shipping info" could use some more words and in better English as it's full or grammar mistakes (mine on the forum also but on forum I never check if it's correct) there is no contact page whatsoever, you should add a Faq page and there is not a single icon linking to any social media page you own.

Last week there was a guy here that made exactly the same mistake as you, offering "free" stuff but like your website, you have to pay for shipment, people don't like that shit. He also had barely any info on his webpage, no social media linking, few items and spend almost $100,- in fb ads and zero conversions.

Now as I sorta ripped you a new one I will give you some tips which you should carry out before spending one more dollar on advertising.

Tip 1: I don't know if you already bought a domain but if you didn't go get one at godaddy.com for a dollar and link your shopify to that domain so you won't see the amateur "myshopify.com" anymore (which means, also remove the "powered by shopify in your footer") and if you already own a domain, great, same advice.

Tip 2: Choose what you want, you gonna stick with necklaces and key chains from different brands or you sticking with GOT? Choose one and add a SHITLOAD more items, dropshipping is already over saturated, you can't compete with the big boys with just 30 items.

Tip 3: Add more information to your website, so a Faq, more info in the "about' & "shipping order"section, also make a disclaimer which you will certainly need with dropshipping.

Tip 4: This is 2017 bro, social media is key to success, you need a FB, IG, Twitter, Pinterest and all that kind of crap to keep up with your competition, also link em to your website and vice versa man, the more back links your site got, the better.

Tip 5: Get mass planner, join groups in your niche, if the group has non stop spam of people promoting their GOT stuff, leave. Otherwise, stick around, don't promote your stuff yet, just like some things, small comments and then you can come with some kind of promotion.

Tip 6: Just cut this whole "free items, paid shipping" bullshit, it won't work! People will get upset as they only read the word free and then get pissed off they have to pay for shipping. You should do it the other way around, price your items and say something like, free shipping worldwide.

That's it for now, it's kinda late here so getting tired. You don't have to follow my advice of course and go with silly advice like "Split test 10 different ads" but that will give you no ROI if you haven't at least followed my tips.

Peace.

I actually agree with these post. When you are done with the suggestions, before you run an add, you need to profile your ideal audience which will then be used as interest in targeting. This can be achieved using the facebook audience insight. There tons of tutorials out there on how to make use of the audience insight. It will surely help in giving you the specific interest of people to target.

It's not about having money for split advertising, have you been paying any attention at all?

It's about a unfinished product. If you design a car, you going to split advertise the car without the doors and windows to see if it will work?

Your website looks a LOT better by the way. Still think it's going to be very hard to make a profit of this niche and you surely need to spend some money to get your fb page boosted as it has 0 activity but what I recommend and I've seen this a LOT which would fit your niche better is pay for shout outs on IG, plenty of big IG accounts in your niche.

If your product is awesome but you get no traffic then the product can might as well not exist. Ofc the site is important but you need to get traffic at first to see how you not finished product performs.. in this case the site is not unfinished - it's just not optimized the best.

Anyways, pointless to argue - both are important, the site and traffic. In the scope of this thread though, op asked about why he is not getting clicks aka traffic.

Maybe you didn't see the site in his first state ;) there is no point of generating product if your webshop that is selling the products you advertise for is not finished. Also his fb page has 0 traffic, you can make a 100 split ads but when I click your link and I see you page has 0 traffic, most of the time I'm gone.

If for some reason I am still interested and you got me to click the link to your website and the website is also unfinished, I'm gone.

op asked about why he is not getting clicks aka traffic.
Yes and In this case it has nothing to do if he split his ads or not ;)
