I created a Shopify store today in the Game of Thrones niche and have around 30 items. I also think my site looks surprisingly good. The problem is I don't really have an idea how to advertise the Facebook posts properly. I created a page dedicated to the site and promoted a post of mine with $5.00 targeting US residing women aged 21-45y.o with estimated daily reach 220-770 people:
I started it 3 hours ago and have only reached 122 people and have absolutely 0 engagement. No like,no page visit,no anything. The 2 likes are from me and a friend. What seems to be my mistake guys? And do you think I should target larger interest groups?

You should create more ads, and split test, you won't know what you are doing wrong if you only have only 1 ad.

Split test 10 different ads and see how they perform compare to each other, that is the only way to know if the problem is your ads or the problem is your niche.

You will spend more money on testing this way, but at least you know what you are doing wrong.

That's actually the problem, I don't really have much of a budget to experiment with. Hmm,let's just hope I get some engagement by tomorrow considering the different timezones. I'm targeting only US citizens.

Rightttt let me/us be the judge of that, I actually went through a LOT of shopify websites today to see my competition and pretty much all of them sucked as were there social media coverage.

I already see your link has the "myshopify.com" extensions which is a typical Noob mistake, also you have a niche that is very saturated so you can't expect just after 2 days you get loads of customers through a fb ad which also looks cheap.

You already told your niche so you might as well drop the website link or if you don't like it to see public feel free to PM me.

That's the advice for someone who started 2 days ago? Very bad advice and in his case it's both.

To me the picture are low quality. Not resolution, but low quality overall, like my 6yrs old cousin was trying to sell his necklaces. Looks like stock aliexpress images. Also the text font doesn't fit. I will stop here I could go on and on.
Second is too many Emojis. When I scroll, my eyes only search for good looking and interesting images. Too many of them scream spams. Also how you put them doesn't help <Emoji> TEXT </Emoji> is very spam looking.

One image is worth a 1000words. Thats why usually the primary text from news networks is inside the picture, and then the post is a continuation of it (like more details).
Take a step back, look at how people interact with content.

Ok, keep in mind, I am pretty much straight forward usually but I don't mean it in a bad way :D plus TBH I normally don't like to give these tips because although basic and most of the times logical it's those small things that keeps me ahead of the competition but I am in a good mood :p

As i already said, the url, there are actually people and I am one of them, if I see "yourname.myshopify.com" I don't even bother to look what you got, for me, with a domain url like that looks unprofessional.

Which brings me to "yourname" it's pretty long already and adding the shopify extension, it's too long man! Imagine I thought your shop was great and a friend ask me, where did you get that? I would need to tell him, "Yeah, from yourverylongname.myshopify.com" just doesn't roll well on the tongue.

Also, you say your niche is GOT and yet I see stuff from batman, harry potter, grand theft auto, star wars lol, most of it are necklaces and keychains so either shift your niche to that or stick with GOT.

Your homepage meta states: Free game of thrones products.. but when I check your items some have prices on them and others say $0,00,- this is a typical noob mistake and seen many do it and having the same problems as you. It's unclear for customers what is going on and they will most likely assume that the website is broken or under construction/testing phase. Also these green sale images are on top of the "xx% off" tags so you can't read what they say.

The "about us" and "shipping info" could use some more words and in better English as it's full or grammar mistakes (mine on the forum also but on forum I never check if it's correct) there is no contact page whatsoever, you should add a Faq page and there is not a single icon linking to any social media page you own.

Last week there was a guy here that made exactly the same mistake as you, offering "free" stuff but like your website, you have to pay for shipment, people don't like that shit. He also had barely any info on his webpage, no social media linking, few items and spend almost $100,- in fb ads and zero conversions.

Now as I sorta ripped you a new one I will give you some tips which you should carry out before spending one more dollar on advertising.

Tip 1: I don't know if you already bought a domain but if you didn't go get one at godaddy.com for a dollar and link your shopify to that domain so you won't see the amateur "myshopify.com" anymore (which means, also remove the "powered by shopify in your footer") and if you already own a domain, great, same advice.

Tip 2: Choose what you want, you gonna stick with necklaces and key chains from different brands or you sticking with GOT? Choose one and add a SHITLOAD more items, dropshipping is already over saturated, you can't compete with the big boys with just 30 items.

Tip 3: Add more information to your website, so a Faq, more info in the "about' & "shipping order"section, also make a disclaimer which you will certainly need with dropshipping.

Tip 4: This is 2017 bro, social media is key to success, you need a FB, IG, Twitter, Pinterest and all that kind of crap to keep up with your competition, also link em to your website and vice versa man, the more back links your site got, the better.

Tip 5: Get mass planner, join groups in your niche, if the group has non stop spam of people promoting their GOT stuff, leave. Otherwise, stick around, don't promote your stuff yet, just like some things, small comments and then you can come with some kind of promotion.

Tip 6: Just cut this whole "free items, paid shipping" bullshit, it won't work! People will get upset as they only read the word free and then get pissed off they have to pay for shipping. You should do it the other way around, price your items and say something like, free shipping worldwide.

That's it for now, it's kinda late here so getting tired. You don't have to follow my advice of course and go with silly advice like "Split test 10 different ads" but that will give you no ROI if you haven't at least followed my tips.

    Peace.

Graphic design! Where is the catch to stop my eye as I am quickly scrolling through my Facebook timeline? I see bland, I scroll right by. Give my eye a catch.
Look at Game of Thrones logo, match the colors. Now give me that in the graphic, subliminal suggestion.
The font. Bubble font? Seriously, you're advertising, not tagging a train. Find a font that matches Game of Thrones style, use that, don't forget about the color.
Now a basic 4 square picture like that doesn't entice me either. Give me something with POP, highlight 1 necklace, give it a border in the right color scheme.
    Now you're enticing the eyes.

Mate, you're targeting the wrong age. 18-26 women are the majority fans of GoT.

It looks like fucking shitty chinese crap. Do a better pic that doesn't look like it's ripped from ali-express. I'm from Canada and if I saw this ad I'd practically report it for spam. That font holy shit.

So fix the picture, make it look like a high quality ad. Your text is fine.

Thank you for the valuable help guys :) I'll start implementing most of your reccomendations and when I finally get more confident with the way my post is promoted and how my site looks I'll start an Ad campaign again.

https://gameofthronesaddict.myshopify.com/ I changed a lot of things and now I stuggle with making my shop look better on mobile device. The FEATURED PRODUCTS and the items below were added with a code thanks to a shopify employee that had experience in coding and It looks better now. Does anyone have any ideas how I can make it look better on mobile phones. I'll also buy a custom domain soon. Thanks again!
