301 Redirect, How long does it take?

If anyone has ever had experience ranking with 301 redirects, i am wondering how long it takes for google to improve your rankings after you set up the redirect. I have already sent some GSA links and pinged the link as well as sent it to some indexning services.

Anyone with experience with 301 redirects your thoughts are greatly appreciated.

I had a very well built site with 100k~ impressions per day and hundreds of active users throughout the day (600-1,000 at any given time) and the website got hit with a DMCA complaint. That was nearly two months ago and after making a new domain and 301 redirecting I'm just now starting to see SOME very very small improvements so it takes a lot longer now, be careful

Damn that sucks, i think the fact that you got a DMCA complaint may have impacted that though.

You think trying to rank a site with 301's is not worth it anymore?

Not saying it's not worth it (although personally speaking as a content owner whose business was destroyed by willful theft, if he's deliberately violated DMCA I think his site should be banished to the seventh layer of the Inferno). Just saying it takes a lot longer than it used to and isn't as effective as it used to be.

Thank you for being helpful. In regards to ranking power, if the 301'd domain has the same metrics as a PBN link how do you think they compare when it comes to ranking power?

People, please, for the sake of humanity... stop overhyping 301 redirects so much.

They used to work great 3 years back maybe. These days, they take weeks/months to take effect. And that's IF there even be any effect, which often isn't. If you think that you will take some DA15, RD20 domain, redirect it straight from the host without anything and start ranking top 3, then god no. Unless you have some 500RD super niche relevant massacre with old content in place for year, then sure, go for it, but otherwise, don't bother. Build a PBN site out of it and never ever think about 301 again. You will thank me later.

I accept this statement. No use of believing 301 to take effects. You need to get back link from more domains which is relevant to your niche.
