For those of you who did not get the announcement, clickbank is finally updating analytics to remove bot traffic. Long overdue in my opinion!

Clickbank's official announcement is reproduced below:

-----------------------------------------------------------

We want to update you on an important change to ClickBank’s analytics reporting.

Within the next few weeks, we are updating our real-time analytics suite so that bot traffic will no longer be included in counts for affiliate driven hop traffic and order form impressions. Please note, legitimate traffic will not be impacted, and this will enable a much more accurate representation and actionable metrics around campaign performance.

What is bot traffic?

Bot traffic includes non-human driven activity, such as automated scripts that generate traffic on the Internet. This includes web crawlers from common search engines like Google that are used to index and optimize internet searches, but does not include actual potential customer and campaign driven traffic.

What is the impact to me with this update?

Once all bot traffic is suppressed, from that day forward analytics will display traffic from legitimate sources only. This will be represented in the Analaytics reporting within the account management application as well as any data accessed through the Analytics API. Please note, the update will affect activity going forward after the change has been made; historic reporting will not be impacted.

When will this change occur?

During the week of December 12th.

Is any action on my part required?

No action is required.

Where can I find out more information about ClickBank’s analytics reporting?

Additional information is available in the Analytics article on the ClickBank Knowledge Base, located here.

As a whole, this update will provide for a true reflection of presales activities without the excess noise.

Please contact ClickBank Client Services if you have any questions.

Thank you,

The ClickBank Team

Thanks I have also noticed bot traffic... I hope now we will get legitimate numbers and ideas.

Yes it will lead to more meaningful stats.
It will undoubtedly also lead to newbies to worry that something is wrong as after the update there will be a sudden drop in hops (due to bot traffic no longer being counted), so expect to see some worried threads on BHW soon lol.

It's about time.

Bot traffic really screws up EPC. On occasions almost 20% of traffic can be bots if you're regularly updating a site and the crawlers come in multiple times a day.

Are they gonna put more captchas? Nothing ruins conversions like captchas.

Did you notice any difference in sale? For me, I make money everyday, for 3 days in this week the amount of money stay the same. Today I have more order form impression but no increase in sale, it's weird!!!!!

No difference in sales due to update, but this time of the year digital product sales tend to go down due to christmas coming up...in fact looking at the past years you can see the same kind of threads come up around mid nov - end dec; this year is no exception. Some examples from past years:

2014: https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/clickbank-stats-christmas-and-new-year.728322/
2015: https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/huge-drop-before-christmas.811215/

Every year, you get a bunch of people who freak out with this drop and say it's because clickbank is done and jump ship, and the rest of clickbank affiliates secretly pat their backs as they know this will mean less competition allowing them to get a bigger bite out of the pie ;)
