I got dumped via text

This right here.

When my wife and I first met, we were in high school and poor as fuck. We both worked part time minimum wage jobs. Our romantic dates were hikes in the woods, cheap movies, and drives to the top of a mountain to fool around.

She always had dreams of being a doctor, though. Fast forward to today (nine years later), she graduates in June a full doctor.

Investing in the long term :)

The responses in this thread just made my night :D

This thread says you are not over it.

Lol well it did just happen yesterday so regardless of how I feel about it, it is still fresh in my memory.

Since I'm from a different culture, your posts have triggered my curiosity. What kind of money do you spend when on a relationship? o_O

Don't get me wrong, we weren't going on lavish cruises to the Seychelles. My point was that basically I was spending money on stuff like dinner and fuel which I'd otherwise have been able to save on as a single guy.

Gems.. Never been in a relationship.. Wouldn't start one now until I'm rich

It's not always about the money. I broke up with my girlfriend of 3 years last November because she thought I was working too much - too hard and she was getting mad at me because some nights I would rather work on my IM goals rather than give her enough attention, enough love. At the time, I felt like it was the right call... I wanted to be set for life (!) and enjoy my money.

6 Months later, I finally reached my goals, but something was missing and I couldn't put my fingers on it. I reached out to her, tried to make things right -- Right the wrongs. We saw each other for two months, and she ended up breaking up with me. She didn't have it in her; the pain was still there. I fucking broke her heart for money. I still think about her, I still blame myself for what I did and trust me... It's not a good feeling.

Money can't buy you love. IM success can't buy you love either. If I could trade all my revenue, my sites, my businesses to be with her again, I would. At the end of the day, money is just money. In the long run, pick money over love and you'll regret it later. If you're not going to date a girl you like just because you think she will turn your wallet upside down you're going to regret it later.

happens , time to move on , hit the gym , earn more , read more , experience more , travel

one day she will regret breaking up with you as long as you keep working on yourself

P.S for no reason dump someone you really love ,as humans we make mistakes but you know once a glass has been broken it can't be undone , I still stalk my exs instagram and it breaks my heart every damn time when she posts a new pic with her actual bf ,

A friend of ours just got dumped after 7 years of relationship. She's a wreck for a week and gets drunk almost everyday. I do not enjoy the drama but I enjoy the free booze. We advised her to get her shit together but she just couldn't at that time. She missed work for a week and was at risk of losing her job. Thankfully, she didn't get fired however she was put on probation.

Love is weird.

Or... you can realize there's around 4 billion women on the planet - 30% of which are single, 10% of which are at the age vector you're interested, which corresponds to a 3%. Suppose that out of those, 1 out of 10.000 is super attractive to you, we are looking at 12.000.000 optimal mates. So you can stop crying a river about your special snowflake and ... go get the next special snowflake out of that 12 freaking million special snowflake pool.

Breakups are hard.
I dated this super materialistic girl for a few months. Around 2 days before Christmas, we were heading to meet her mom at a restaurant, when we got into a very heated argument, where I asked her if she'd still be with me if I was broke and couldn't afford to buy here a nice wedding ring. She replied that if I (or any man) couldn't afford at least a 3ct diamond ring, then they wouldn't deserve to be with her. She was firm with this nonsense, and it turned into a major argument.

Long story short, she got out the car to head into the restaurant. I acted like I was getting out the car, as well. Nope. I drove off and left her in the parking lot.

So what does my story have to do with anything?

Simple. One of my good friends gave me some advice that I'd ignored, which my wallet regretted. He said, "whatchu did to get her is whatchu gotta do to keep her." Those are some very profound words, my friend. Our first date was lavish as fuck and I paid for everything. And that's how our relationship progressed. Lavish and at my expense. Never again. Dating doesn't NEED to be expensive.

Wouldn't that be 12,000 and not 12,000,000?

(4,000,000,000*.03)/10,000

That materialistic girl wins? She is very frank.

She was always going to dump you either way if she 'can't get over it'! Choose love over money?? Well, if you did not become successful, she will eventually look down at you as a failure and dump you saying you lack ambition and find another successful guy. You can't win either way most times!!

Well anyway at least you guys got a text. My GFs phone suddenly stopped working one day, so i reached out to her best friend who told me she had left me for another guy 'who had more money' and changed her number LOL!! 2 yrs later when the other guy was broke and 'i had more money' she wanted to come back! Hell NO!

Do nerds have girlfriends???

Yes, relationships are expensive. Before you know you have a dog, an expensive Villeroy & Boch knives and spoons set, and so. A labrador, maybe.

I'm already done with relationships the next girl has to be rich and well off
