2016 will see 8K video gaming?

Well 2016 kinda has 8K, but its far from mainstream. NVLink didn't reach gaming pascals. But probably going to be volta and if not volta the one right after volta for sure.

Pascal Titan crushes the Maxwell one, so it possible with an i7 6950x oc'd to 4.3 Ghz, 3200Mhz DDR4 and 4x Titan X(Pascal) you may get really nice performance in 8K resolution.

Why we need 8k gaming resolution when 2pcs GTX1080 with sli show 60-70fps on 4k ? And that's on GTA5, witcher3. And that not the most powerful games.

Download Speeds, and bandwidth caps will probably be the biggest hurdle to 8K gaming(the hardware looks like it will be powerful enough way before the monitors are affordable). The games are going to be insanely large the PS4 pro is probably going to be pushing some AAA games to 100-125GB file size. So I wouldn't be shocked to see 250GB+ file sizes for AAA games by the time 8K is mainstream.

All this 4k 8k talk is just a marketing gimmick like the curved TV.

It's incredible that that 1080p is still being called "Full HD".

I don't think any one will actually see any difference. I'd say 1080P and 4K are barely recognized and only when you know there's difference,

There's a huge difference between 4K and 1080p, 4K has much better colors and is sharper even on 15" inch monitors.

for 4k you can see the quality picture from minimum distance
for 1080p if you want to see the same quality you need to sit down on greater distance
nothing else
it would not be a quality difference like Led tv and Plasma tv

Last time I've readen about Playstation 4 PRO i XBOX Scorpio. Both will provide 4k game resolution. It will be huge step!
I can only image Witcher 3 or Cyberpunk in this resolution.

Between NVLINK allowing for faster memory bandwidth along with up to 8 GPU's instead of the current max of 4, and with DirectX improving perfomance, it seems like the jump from 4K to 8K will happen sooner than 1080p to 4K.

That being said, a single 1080 can get like 32fps on 4k on some pretty extreme settings, so 2 of them may actually be able to handle 8k. Considering the 'newness' of that line, that there haven't been any titan-type releases announced, and the pace at which these technologies seem to develop normally, I'd say 8k isn't right around the corner except for maybe really expensive enthusiasts.

Ha! yeah I got a 4K monitor awhile back, only to realize that nearly ZERO of any applications I use daily have support beyond 2K for icon sets and etc.. Drove me crazy

Pascal supports more than 2 GPU's, there are some custom SLI setting already for 4x titan pascals. Since weren't not allowed to link other forums, just google for "Venturi Nvidia Pascal Titan". Venturi setup 4x titan x pascal in SLI a few months ago.
