What do you think about Google Penguin updates?

Internet is flooded by articles like Google updates Penguin, says it now runs in real time within the core search algorithm or Google Penguin 4.0 – Real Time Penguin Update Blah Blah.

what do you think? This real time google update really affect SEO. if yes, what strategies you are going to follow to acquire #1 position in SERP. Google is saying that it will penalize pages in place of whole site. And penalization will be on spam signals on that particular page.

Even google is not giving that much importance to do follow links as well.

You are right I am new to internet marketing but I've read a lot about penalization and all. google don't like us to rank. it do not like us to interfere in its SERP.

Only thing I liked about it is it's not site-wide anymore, I mean if they find spammy backlinks for one page of my website whole website will not get penalty.

Not into SEO at all, but this update check the links "live", right?

Isnt that a good thing? Else you need to wait weeks or maybe months to see if your seo strategy works.

Do you guys think it's risky to buy one of those "diversification" packages from the marketplace with this latest Google update in mind if one only uses brand, naked and partial match?

Links will be stuff like from document sharing sites, slideshare, web 2.0's (blasted with 100's of second tier links), audio links (from sites like Purevolum etc)... Would this be safe?

What about the act of blasting tier 2 links (web 2.0's) with 300 blog posts, hundreds of comments etc...

Do you think this update will have an effect on spammy tier 3 links? What about tier 2?

There is no SEO map so stop asking what to do or what not do do. Every strategy still works you just have to use it the proper way. Heck i blast GSA links directly to a money site & rankings have never been better lol!

This is not the first time and it won't be the last time,people will keep weathering google update storms.

I think this update or it's test sequence was rolled out against the organic positions on page one. Most of those affected were all webmasters that had page one rankings. With every update, a new scare tactic ensues, and I'm just going to devote more resources in producing better quality articles for linkbuilding instead of highly spun crap. And i'd probably also focus using more natural and branded anchors since most people use exact match anchors to rank, and penguin is all about off page a.k.a link building.

Just talked to head of Google and he said it is OK if you use naked URL as anchor (70%) and 30% of branded anchors.

It sounds like you've been reading the ramblings of a hormone-enraged 16 year old who can't figure out why their spam site isn't ranking.

The problem with reading without testing is that you're going to come across all sorts of conflicting information. For example, some people say you absolutely have to deindex tag pages, other people will tell you to let them index, but to add an article-length description at the top of the page. Who is right? (Don't answer that, it was rhetorical)

It a matter of a few weeks before things are forgotten and everything that always worked appears to work again. Google have been updating since they started business and SEOs have so far not gone out of work.

It may still be too early. But out Of the hundreds of web assets I have, no noticeable change in my positioning.

I've watched a few (not a lot) competiting sites get out of my way. And I am not really sure it has anything to do with this update at all. But I will pretend it does and say: Thanks Google!
