Tagging Famous People On Instagram

tagging famous people has no more effect now... Instagram has nerfed it

Since 2 days it's completely patched. Two weeks ago it was a semi patch, but still worked with a small work-around.

Move on, find the next trick.

And yes, it worked. Everybody who is on top of this game, knows that. It has totally nothing to do with getting the attention of the celeb to like your posts.....lol.

Damn so many random lies and guesses in the thread, it's patched now but here's the breakdown.

This has to do with the sorted feed being added and how it was sorted to users. Basically let's say person A follows person B, C, D, E, and F. (Where A is a normal user and BCDEF are big pages/celebrities

Now person C posts a pic with B, D, E and F tagged in the caption, that must surely be very interesting for person A since there's a lot of people they follow in that picture. So now the picture stays on top of their feed and stays there for quite a while. This equals engagement, and lots of it, sometimes double depending on niche.

5 year old version:

Janie follows Nike, Kevin Hart, Beyonce, Instagram and Luxurypage123. Luxurypage123 posts a photo tagging all of the previously mentioned celebrities which rates the picture as 'interesting' for Janie. And therefore puts it on the top of her feed.

Yeps, nailed it.

But there was a downside as well. Some people used it, while posting like 6-10 times a day.

Result: High gains and high unfollows at the same time. Nett gain for the day: zero.....lol.

I guess so it appears in the celeb tagged area? I sometimes tag brands within my niche so people with an interest can view the post

Dude read the thread before posting, I posted an explanation like 4 posts above you.

This is simple and the fact that no one is giving an answer makes me feel like wtf lol.

OP people do that to attempt to increase engagement, tagging Taylor Swift on your picture on IG will not get you more likes or follows or anything really.

But what if Taylor Swifts social media manager notices that and likes one of your pics by accident.... congratulations you just got a power like from a page with 40 million + followers.

The above example explains why people do this and why they tag so many.

That's not it... my engagement increased from 80 likes and 1-2 comments to 180 likes and 5-10 comments when i started tagging 50 big accounts... but that doesn't work anymore, instagram has made some changes this past week

You are right, 3 days ago I was getting 2k likes per photo, when I woke up 2 days ago my likes really struggled to pass 1k likes. Now my followers growth has staled ...

I was talking to other big pages (+1m followers) in my niche and they have same problems as me. They also said they've never seen a big drop like this...

One way to work around this may be to tag people who you think your followers are following.
Any else got any other good ideas?

Seems like the end is nigh... hopefully not though :/

Hey Fam,

Lately I've been seeing a bunch of IGers tagging a bunch of famous people. Can someone help me explain why IGers are starting to do this?

I dont use this method.

I target on different good hasjtags.
This is different on each post and i get a lot of followers+likes with this method.
BUT if i tag popular accounts and someone look at my post ( found from the hasjtags ) and he see @Beyonce by example he click there offcourse and i lose him.
Most likely i dont receive like+comment.
And it dont look prof.

Dude, you have no clue what you're talking about.

Damn these so-called experts lol. Read the posts above you. Someone is giving the true insights and you guys are still talking crap.

What i learn from tagging is that, you have to be consistent, you don't just tag and forget. t must be a technique that you do almost every time you post....Moreover i get engagement anytime i post on ig...and i implore that technique

But linking mentions to people already following you means that it isn't that helpfull tbh ... these are already people following you so by mentioning people now it only gets more engagement from your own followers that's it. It is very hard to gain new followers so it seems .. I have been scaping for 2 weeks now and first it went fast but now I barely get a gain !! even when I like + comment quality comments its hard to actually get new stuff in

Do you people even read the thread before spewing out lies? Heres the full explanation:

Since so many people seemed to miss my explanation and are saying lies and false theories in this thread I thought I should se the record straight.
