*WARNING* This is a large rant, if you do not want to read the ramblings of a pissed of an arsehole I suggest you just leave your favourite TLDR gif and get on with your day

So, for whatever reason this past week I have had a lot of strange unsolicited PMs asking such classics as

"Are you a scraping expert?"

Just out of nowhere, I have no threads about scraping or anything really relating to scraping. None of my marketplace threads have anything to do with scraping but there it is, completely out of the blue someone asking me "Are you a scraping expert?" and nothing else.

Now it is possible there is a reason for this question, maybe it is part of a larger plan that the user has or maybe there is some other point that will be made based on my response, either way I am completely confused about why PMs like this find their way to me out of the blue but they do.

So why am I a bad person?

Earlier today I received an offer / request from a user asking for me to post their marketplace thread for them. The user doesn't have the cash for Jr VIP but has everything setup and ready to go. All I needed to do was post the thread.

Sounds simple right? Well, no not really.

I don't expect a new member to have experience in posting marketplace threads but anyone that deals in the BST section will know that you don't just post it and it go live and everyone makes lots of money and gets to retire before they turn 30. It just doesn't work like that.

When you post a BST thread you have to provide test accounts / product and be in touch with a Mod, if there are issues they need fixing and the process can take up quite some time, this alone can be a pain in the arse.

If the thread gets accepted you then need to pay for the thread.

The biggest issue throughout all of this is that that sales thread would forever be in my name, linked to my account and if there are ever any issues they would impact me in some way or another.

For example, if the user were to take a bunch of orders and not fulfil them it is my account, my reputation that is on the line. I would be the one stuck in the shit list thread having to explain why I allowed my username to be associated with a user I have no history with, who the first time I ever spoke to them was through an unsolicited PM asking to post a sales thread.

My response to the first request:

No, I would advise to not bother asking anyone else as they are very unlikely to put their reputation on the line for that.

Not exactly the softest of replies but, to be honest, I get a lot of unsolicited messages and try to get my message across so as to not have to converse further and waste everyone's time.

Surprisingly I got a response proclaiming it would take just 1 minute and that they would be willing to pay. Now, money has already been brought up as the reason he needed me to post the thread so the offer of cash would be low and to be honest even if it were a relatively significant figure it would not be worth my reputation on this forum. The 1 minute assumption is based on inexperience as opposed to anything else so I guess that is forgivable.

Marketplace threads are not a 1 minute job to get online, they take time and a reasonable amount of effort and everyone always assumes that the person posting the thread is the owner of the service.

No offence, but there is no way you could convince me to do that.

Again, not the softest of replies but I just wanted to be very clear that I am not putting my account on the line for a stranger.

The response from the user:
You will lose nothing if you helped me ,,, but there is no longer Good people :(

That is right, I am a bad person for not putting my 8 years of reputation on this forum on the line for a complete stranger, one that registered just earlier this year, that expected me to put my name to a product that I stand to gain nothing from.

I am not going to lie, I replied to that last PM, I probably said some things that didn't need to be said but it pissed me off that I was being called a bad person for choosing my family's well being over giving a hand out to a stranger in an unsolicited PM.

So what is the point of this rambling post?

I figured if @pewep can post threads about moving shit with his mind why shouldn't I make a ridiculous rant post that would interest very few people.

I guess the moral of my story is; if you ask a random stranger for a favour and they decline be respectful and leave it at that.

For anyone that made it this far; you really have too much spare time on your hands, stop reading rant posts and go make some money.

WTF did i just read ?
Wasted 10 minutes of my life reading it

Noun 1. bad person - a person who does harm to others

Seems like you were doing the opposite by protecting yourself, and in reality he was a scam artist trying to hurt you. But you already knew that boo boo. Just ignore them and keep it moving ;)

You are absolutely right, it's just that he is a stupid man.
By the way, I just realized it was you who made DHG.
A man like you should have never been bothered by such beggar.
Move on.

Your responses were pretty polite. I get PM's like that and they can be frustrating.
I try to help people when I can but when you say no they can take it personally.
Just block those fools and report them.

I have had many people ask me to front their BST's but I would never ever do it. It just isn't worth the hassle IMO even when they promise a bigger split.

I received the same request lol! Does his username start with "H"? Sounds like he's trying his luck with all jr vips!

Don't let manipulator spin you. He was just aiming for weak spots and i hope he failed to hurt you.

You sure seem to roll with the punches in your own threads so I will take your advice and just keep it moving.

You are absolutely right, it's just that he is a stupid man.

Just because I have a bunch of popular software doesn't really make me any less likely to help with reasonable requests but this guy was not going to convince me no matter what he said.

To be honest begging shouldn't really be done on here at all yet some people seem to do it to varying success.

Your responses were pretty polite. I get PM's like that and they can be frustrating.

I wasn't sure if this sort of begging was even a reportable offence. Why anyone thinks a person with a decent standing on the forum would front a business they have no stake in is beyond me.

I also have the same guy trying to get me to post the link shortening thing for him.

I'm just going to troll him for as long as I can.

Go easy on the guy.... actually nah, go for it.

I received the same request lol! Does his username start with "H"? Sounds like he's trying his luck with all jr vips!

Yeah, I am sure the guy works hard enough but I can't imagine he will be making much money in the link shortening website game.

Don't let manipulator spin you. He was just aiming for weak spots and i hope he failed to hurt you.

Thanks for the kind words, he won't be getting me down.

Yes, it does start with H as he hit me up too.

He is a hardworker when it comes to soliciting others to post his BST it seems.
