Scammed by carnage_100101 for $200

I added him on Skype (mike_jones_101001), discussed all details regarding the software. We agreed that it would be done in 2 weeks and a total of $400. I agreed to pay $200 in advance and then $200 when I had tested the bot.

He "started developing" it 29 May 2016. After two weeks I was asking why the program was not done, he postponed it and said he needed a bit more time. I was very polite to him and by experience I understand that programmers run into issues and have to postpone projects, I fully understood that. This went on and on for weeks which turned into months. Now it's 2.9.216 (5 months later) and he is not answering me on Skype anymore.

The Skype logs are very long and I have wasted enough time on this already so I don't have time to go through them so I can paste it here without revealing any sensitive information. I have clearly been scammed though. Last time he answered me on Skype was 26.6.2016 and he said: "Going great,Just need to test the protection script and make a few last minute changes and we good to go for a test.Yesterday I kept skype closed so I could wrap this up and focus "

I started to get annoyed by his lack of response because it could take 7 days for him to respond to a simple question, the text in bold was his defence.

I have so many bad words I would like to say about this person. I tried to file a paypal dispute but I can't because I get this error: https://gyazo.com/5a89c5018032f3c3e4de686788abafde

I'm mostly pissed about the time I have lost and the fact that he became $200 richer for being a scum of the earth. I am not crying over lost money, I am crying over a fucking idiot earning money in the worst way possible and the fact that it worked for him.

I now know that I can never send payments as "family and friends" through Paypal anymore since it is not possible to file a claim if you chose that payment method. How the fuck would I have known this? Don't tell me its my own fault. Get this idiot banned from BHW.

The reason why I agreed to an upfront payment was because his BHW account looked legit with lots of thanks, good feedback and a fairly aged account.

He has not been on BHW since August 10th.

I don't think anyone can get a dispute won if you send as family or friends but perhaps give it a try.

I'm going to perma-ban him as it has been some time since this was opened and he has not responded to the PM he was sent nor has he responded here.

I can't even open a dispute for the transaction. Does PayPal have any email or contact form that I can use which doesn't reply with bot answers every time you contact them?

I have no idea myself as I never send money using the friends and family way. I'd rather pay the fees for the seller than do that.

Perhaps post that question in the lounge for a more broad audience to see it.

This matter does not concern me but I would like to advise the OP to contact his bank to file as unauthorized transaction. Let his bank speak to Paypal and most likely than not, you would have your payment reversed. However do not do this too often as the history of reversal will determine the future success rate of a chargeback. I also advise you to do this asap as any transaction above 6 months will not be warranted for unauthorised transaction claim.

I can't do that beacuse I want to stay out of every radar that the bank might have for private reasons. :/

You can call them. Depending on your skills you may be able to get it appealed and reopened or simply be able to file a claim and have it converted to a non personal transaction.
This is all possible but it depends on your social engineering skills.

The only way you can get your money back for friends and family is:

1. Seller refunds you
2. You open an "unauthorized transaction" dispute
3. You chargeback via your CC or bank

Before I waste more time on this issue I would like to have a few questions answered. My only option here is number 2. Since the transaction was authorized by me, is there any chance to get my money back by explaining to PayPal how I got scammed along with proofs of the person completely ignoring me for the last months and perhaps even showing them this thread? I'm thinking PayPal will ignore me completely since this was not an unauthorized transaction and therefore I will only waste my time by contacting them with this option.

I dont think paypal will refund you since it was sent as 'Family anf friends' the only way is if the scammer refunds you. Otherwise, you learnt a lesson in a very hard way. Don't ever send money as Family and Friends when you're buying something.
