My Friend Owes Paypal $10,000

When I say my friend I actually mean my friend I'm elite when creating stealth PayPal so I'll never see this problem.

Well my friend said he was scammed. A buyer purchased a lot of stuff from my friend and hit him with a charge back. He sent tracking number and also signature confirmation which was signed for by the buyer. Buyer reports it to PayPal then PayPal looked at evidence & my friend wins. A month later the buyer initiates the dispute again because he reported to his credit card company that he didn't make the purchase which is unauthorized transaction.

My friend lost the dispute because PayPal said its out of their hands its the credit card company. My friend said he will not pay $10,000 to PayPal for being scammed. I warned him that its huge amount and be prepared to be sued by PayPal. Am I right? He used real information.

To my knowledge you can raise a challenge against the chargeback. There is a time limit on that though and I have no idea what you need to do to support your case, but it may be worth doing for that amount of money!

Yeah one time I sold something for £500 here in the Uk, refunded them but still owed £50 to eBay, I told them where to stick it and then a month or so later I got contacted by some company asking for £60 (The debt had obviously been sold), so I just paid up to eBay, £50 wasn't much and I didn't want the hassle. This will obviously be different for $10k but I would make every move you can to get the debt dismissed.

Chances are that either your "friend" is either lying or leaving something out. 1. If you have a tracking # and signature confirmation, that is one type of case that the credit card company will side with the seller almost 100% of the time., and 2. Paypal will not just tell you to that it's not up to them. That's not how the credit card dispute process works with paypal for that kind of money.

Firstly very sorry for your friend. Myself being somone Paypal did the same with nearly 20,000 dollars. I actually had a customer say they bought a PS4 from me for 3,000 dollars just to issue a charge back after they lost the paypal case. From my experience it is a lot harder to win these cases once they go to a chargeback between the merchants, because paypal does not fully represent the buyer. I have since moved into stealth accounts and do not have this issue anymore, but would say try to provide sooo much proof they cannot contest it. I mean really over do it and you should be fine. Otherwise they will send it to collections.

Tell him to just get a lawyer , some peoples do that for only 1K$ , so 10K$ is really worth it , personally i never use paypal for sales when the transaction amount is more than 1000$ .

not me I been banned from PayPal & eBay since late 90's. I use stealth accounts now.

I am sorry for what happened to your friend. However, all that your friend need to know is be able to find evidence that the $10,000 was not transacted anywhere. As much as we feel that PayPal is a big company and therefore will not be able to win, they are also customer centred. Just write down the complaint and do a followup. I am sure they will respond.

Paypal will not just tell you to that it's not up to them. That's not how the credit card dispute process works with paypal for that kind of money.

That's false. Here's proof of an email from PayPal they sent my friend. They http://m.imgur.com/t0auw1b said even though my friend did everything right & qualified for sellers protection there hands are tied & can't do anything its up to credit card company and we all knew they're gonna decide not in your favor.

Why not? Your friend still have the tracking info and sig confirmation from the buyer. I think it will be pretty hard for the buyer to make the credit card company believe that it was an unauthorized charge, unless he used someone else's card and/or different address than what the credit card company has in file for the card. If he really didn't make the purchase, he can send the goods back, no? Because they were delivered, there's proof of it.

I definitely don't see this as a lost case just yet.

$10k is a big enough amount to get the cops involved and make them pay him a visit.

Tell him to make a claim to the police regards that guy who canceled the payment. That's definelly an infraction.

Well, if your friend has all the information with him then tell him not to wait and call paypal immediately.
Explain the whole situation and provide every evidence they ask for.
You need not to worry if you have delivered the goods for which you were paid for.

For later notes, $10k is a big amount and for bigger amount do not use paypal, Escrow is way safe for big deals.
