First of all, please forgive me for asking such a stupid question.
I have used BHW for a while and have had great success at hiring logo guys, designers, and the like from the site and while I do have a stupid question that I need answered, I ask it only because I have an opportunity to make allot of money if I can "crack" this code.
We are a software firm that has built out several large and successful games and consumer websites.
The owner of our firm built a small search engine that was very popular in the early 90's that he sold to "pre" Google and as a result we are often times asked as a development is ending how to "boost" SEO and make our clients business appear on the first page of Google for a particular set of key words.
Many of our clients ask us this continually.
I know that everyone wants and needs a way for their firms and website to rank number one or two or number three on Google when consumers google a set of keywords. I know that everyone wants that obviously.
So recently we began to get emails about back-links and magazines like Forbes and entrepreneur and prices attached for cost of a "back link".
We have heard of back links, and we understand that it's important that the domain name of the business is mentioned in articles, but we don't understand how by mentioning a domain name in an article that it is going to make you rank for a specific set of keywords.
For example if you were looking for a trial attorney in Bellevue Washington most likely the consumer will go to Google and type in the keywords "Bellevue trial attorney" and press enter.
The way we did it in the old days is to just get the domain name ending in .com. Now you need to make sure its a one copy of content and one of a kind pictures, but it still works to rank.
But what if you want to rank nationally for "personal injury attorneys"?
So my question is:
1. So if I go and buy one of these Forbes.com back links, how is that going to help Anderson and Anderson lawyers.com rank on the first page of Google if someone is typing in Bellevue trial attorneys and pressing enter?
2. For example we want to really rank nationally for "app developers". How is a back link in Forbes going to help our software firm rank for "app developers" when consumers Google that?
Thanks so much for helping me. If I can find the right person to help me set up articles, back links, etc, we literally have 1000's of clients that would pay us to do it.
