Low Adsense Revenue

Hello all,
I am new to IM but I think I've learned a lot in the last 8 months. I know that actually I know probably under 5% of what others around this great forum know, but compared with what I knew last year I am pretty happy.

Now, let's get to the problems. I set up a pictures blog in January and now it gets about 3000 to 5000 views a day. I know that the niche is not very good but I guess I need some ideas from you guys.

1. Is there a way to adjust what ads are shown on my website? And how?
2. What else I could do to monetize a website like this, besides Adsense?

I am getting a round 25€ a month at the moment and I think for this traffic is way less. Oh and the way things are going the site will get more traffic in the near future.

I am using IFTTT to automate the process of posting pictures. I am posting funny and animal pictures on it. Majority of traffic comes from Pinterest.

The thing is I read everyday peoples journies and unfortunatelly I divide my attention in too many directions. It is so hard to decide which way to go. Not bad ideas at all, thanks a lot. I should try it.

Don't let what other people do affect your decision. Make a plan and stick to it. Feel free to adjust it along the way, but ALWAYS stick to the plan. I also like to set a date where I give up on something. I give it a fair chance and if it doesnt work until then, or if I dont hit certain small goals, then I move on.

It's a great number, I think the problem might be in your content and in your audience. People forget that with a funny picture website, you're getting a lot of tech-savy millennials and the younger crowd which are smart enough to use an adblocker for the most part.

I'm glad you liked the advice. I might make a thread about focus but I don't see it coming anywhere near the one @Sherbert Hoover made a while ago.

Except Adsense, there are other ad networks that you could try - like info links etc. U can also try some banner ads - amazon, CJ.

You can monetize your site with adsense and other networks like infolinks or CPA.

No I haven't, I am a little afraid that I will also lose the small revenue I get. But I might give it a try, anyway 25 € is pretty much insignificat, I could say that it pays for my hosting and that's about it.

@TheFreshPrince is totally right about that. The niche you are targeting for is full youngsters and millenials and most of them never deactivate adblocker. CPA for non targeted traffic is a little hard but you can find offers for that kind of audience.

There are not many things you can successfully optimize about AdSense besides getting more traffic from Tier 1 countries and making sure the ads are placed in clickable locations. If you get a lot of repeat visitors (and you probably do since you are using social media as a main traffic source), it might help a lot of you change up the design or your site or at least the ads location on regular basis. When your regular visitors get used to your design, they develop what we call banner blindness, so switching things up makes them more likely to start noticing ads again since they are not in the usual locations that their brains filter out automatically. It's a simple but effective method, but it will not double your income. The only thing that can double, triple, quadruple and so on your income is a similar increase in traffic. And new visitors are the ones that tend to click ads the most.

Indeed most of my income comes from USA, no matter what other country just bring in cents. I will try to increase traffic since I don't see any other real option. But then again, all we need for our website is traffic.

And I think you are 100% right about changing the ads location on the website. I just did that last month, because I also changed the layout of the website and I've noticed a certain income increase.

Just don't forget to measure your success in bringing traffic in the traffic you bring for Tier 1 countries since those are the ones that are making you money and be biased towards US traffic sources.

thx Bleght. I can honestly say that I was biased over the Us traffic. The thing is now if I come to think about the US is indeed the big money source but that is also because it dominates the the page views. What I mean by that is that probably 90% of my traffic is from US, I will have to look into that, just to be sure.

RPMs will tell you how valuable the traffic from a certain country is, but the size and connectedness of the country matters as well. Traffic from Sweden has a high RPM too, but it's much harder to come by just because there are fewer Swedes out there.

Yeah, that makes total sense. You can see the pageviews here in the screenshot. This are pageviews for the last 7 days. There is a BIG difference between US and others.
