Tiered link Bulding beginner Question

Hello All,
Im looking to learn more about SEO as a whole, but especially Link building. I currently personally have two businesses and am trying to rank them better. I have been accumulating direct links regularly for a few weeks but now want to build another tier via web 2.0 preferably. Are there any good recourse to show me how to build links to my current links ? Im very open to suggestions or any other method as im new to all of this.

I usually build web 2.0 and blog posts (unique and original, 1000% readable content) and then run lots of links to these properties/posts.
