This is what happens when people start making assumptions about services they've never actually used...

1. Their "Lite" plan does NOT give access to ANY whois records. It simply provides a list of domain names.

2. Their "Custom 2" plan does NOT display the real whois data of a domain with privacy protection. I just removes that from their lists so you can have clean lists of just domains that are not using privacy protection.

In fact, you would have even needed to use their service to know this, you could have simply been smart enough to read where it clearly states this: "Removal of Proxies" means that all whois records with a whois guard/whois proxy (used by registrant to hide their identities) are removed.

I bought a domain 24-36 hours back and today I got an email about website designing services, hosting n all stuff. I'm bit amazed or shocked that how did they knew that I bought this domain and how did they got contact information(might be using Whois). Can anyone help me on this ? I'm very curious to know that. Please reply if someone got what I'm trying to describe.

That's right, if you don't buy privacy protection, anyone will be able to see the domain's owner personal information like full name, phone number, mailing address and e-mail.

Well that is enough of a reason for me to buy one..

same issue with me last year ago.. bought new domain..and bamm.. only few hours got few email about design and bla..bla..bla...
so from now my solution if you don't have much money to buy whois privacy for first time, use fake ID and others..
if my domain got good result.. just buy whois privacy and edit my personal details..

Because if you bought it It is more likely that they monitor the godaddy marketplace.
There is no way to scrape the whois and filter recent registrations, if you scrape it you need to try for all combinations and that is not feasible.
Another possibility would be that they have access to the zone file and monitor recent additions, Verisign grants access for the zone files to registrars. In that case it doesn't matter who you registered your domain with.
