Hey BHW.
How do you guys go about link building for a medium keyword ?
Do you focus on manual building ( web 2.0 ) ect , PBN , guest posts , or automated (GSA ect) ?
if we exclude PBNs what is the best practice ?

I'd suggest you to read this: http://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/ne...p-to-tier-1-linking-for-a-new-website.793790/

Manual Link Building for Tier-1
Automated Link Building from effecitive tools like RankerX and GSA SER for lower tiers.

If you want to exclude PBN then best practice is to periodically add Web 2.0 Pumper sites (5 every week). At least 1 Web 2.0 should be pumped with 100+ contextual links. (I prefer RankerX for that).

i would prefer manual, not using any software, diversify is the key

Thanks a lot for the very helpful comment
by pumper web 2.0 do you mean web 2.0 that i create publish content in them with a link to the money site and then build links to ( the web 2.0) using tools like GSA ? that what pumper mean ?

If this is a churn n burn site, build links whatever way you like.

If you plan on going for the long run, then link building is done by hand.

Yeah! :) If you can afford a little it bit you can send Tier-2 PBN links to your Web 2.0. (More effective than GSA SER)

Hundreds of cheap PBN posts services (1, 2) <= Example services. Not affiliated with them in any way.

I've spent years buying links. After every single website I built links to ended up burning, I switched to manual link building. I've never looked back since.

I used to go with aged web2.0 as it's faster to get indexed and bring huge link juice to your moneysite. For higher serp, I go with PBN and guest post.

For long term, prefer manual link building. This will help you to go after quality links, you can pretty much hand pick each and every backlink.

If its churn and burn, automated link building works well.

can a small p^roduct review website be considered a long term ?

I always preferred manual links and daily new links gives 100% results. build even just 5-10 links every day for 2-3 months and you get 100% results. at least dedicate 1 hour every day for 2-3 months than see roi.

Can you please what type of links you build everyday , are they blog comments , or web 2.0 ?
also do you have to always change the Ip ( use web proxy / vpn ) when build links
Thanks alot !

It all comes down to personal preference. I prefer automatic link building and then PBN links as last resort.

The kind of links you want to build.. are all of them. No joke. Natural links. Blog comments, blog posts, social bookmarks, social networks, forum signatures, forum posts, forum profile links, web 2.0; Real websites have real backlinks in every form. Not sure why people try and go for one specific kind to be honest.

If you're a beginner, try the manual LB and monitor the results. In this way, you can learn a lot more about LB.

You can try manual link building for the tier 1 and money sites and automatic link building for low tier sites.Because if you use automated link building for money sites will lead to the penalty by google. So,go with manual link building strategy.

for manual link building should you always use different IP ( proxies ,VPS ) ?

Manual for Tier 1 at least.

Tier 2 can be semi-automated if needed and tier 3 if you decide fully automated.

If you build all links under same IP will make your site looks somewhat suspicious by Google. So if you are building more links for your site means you can use different IP's.
