One Year Down With My Blog.

Hey Guys,

I have been an 4-month old member of BHW now and i love the discussions that are out here. They are very helpful in a lot of ways, be it social media or internet marketing. I have a blog of my own and i would like to present an overview here to create better understanding of the situation.

• I started back in mid-2015 with a speciality automotive blog
• 3-4 months in, we bought a new website that had about 600 daily page views for dirt cheap and integrated it into our blog (301 redirect to increase the parent blog's traffic)
• after doing so, we started landing about 900 - 1000 page views each day.
• We are doing constant on page SEO and using tools like Yoast to make posts more SEO friendly.
• In terms of SEO, the blog has a 65% health ranking on WooRank.

Now my situation is that even after an year from then, i haven't seen any strong growth in the website traffic. Even after 8-9 months of merging the two websites we are still doing more or less the same amount of traffic, which is peaking at 30k page views per month.

This is very troubling to me and i cant seem to get the traffic better. We are doing Facebook marketing, Twitter and Instagram to get some traffic from these channels too, but not much has changed.

What am i doing wrong here ? any advice or tips would be much appreciated.

Your problem could be more of the type of content you have on the site.

I am following up on the pages that attract the most amount of traffic and curating more content accordingly, but still there hasn't been much change in the overall traffic.

Is this something i should be very worried about ?

Try this method...Go to your webmaster tools and find all the keywords google has noted your site for.

List them from the ones that you are ranking the poorest to the best. Now start writing content for those keywords. Or optimizing the pages those keywords are noted for. This works very well as sometimes all you have to do is add content to an existing article. Or you find keywords you are ranking for that you had never thought about writing content for.

By the way, if you have not already done it, add the reduce bounce rate plugin..It can add a few more rankings to your site.

And no there's nothing to worry about yet.

No it just reduces your analytics bounce rate. In some of my sites the bounce rates were over 80 now they are in the lower 20's and the results in search engines has been fantastic.

There's a lot more you can try but always start with what you have. Start with analysing the content you have on webmaster tools. It shall give you a lot of insights on what you can do to increase your traffic.

Interesting, I wish I knew about this before, learning something everyday.

Thanks for the info... my bounce rate hasn't been so bad lately... was in the mid-70s, but in the last 2 months has dropped down to the mid-30s
