Ok I'm back from testing

I've used this over the past week, and all-in-all I would def recommend Domain Ronin for those that are looking for a solution to find expired domains.

Let me start off by saying I decided to run this on one of my home computers. It only has an i5 and 8 gigs of RAM (don't hate).

Everything was running just fine (after I installed the Java client of course) and never really ran into any problems.

Over my one week testing period, I'd say I ran through close to 100 million domains
Probably my favorite feature of them all is the spam-filter. I've never used any other competing program, so for me this was complete game-changer!

One thing that I noticed (maybe just a problem with my settings) but on a single run when I got to over 1,000,000 domains, my computer started taking a dump on me. I think this could possibly be solved by allotting more RAM to the program, or maybe increasing the HDD space the program is allowed to use. Maybe @drstew can shed some light on this :D

In the end, like I said, I DO recommend this program. The only requirements to using this program, IN MY OPINION, are that you need to have a machine good enough to run it for extended periods of time, and that you understand how seed URLs work. If you don't know how to get proper seed URLs then you should look into the Domain Ronin tutorials, or find something else online. Without a good list of seed URLs I can't imagine you'll make it very far with this program.

PS I didn't get a chance to check out the seed list tutorials that they have (I have a weekly license, not a monthly), but if you don't know about seed URLs then I'd urge you to check them out. Their regular tutorial vids are awesome and in-depth so I expect the same with their seed URL tutorials.

Thank you so much @drstew for the opportunity and my sincere apologies for not being able to disable my sig for your sales thread!:(

@nikchaing, Thanks for the honest review. Overall we're glad you like using Domain Ronin. Some feedback based on your points:
  • One thing that I noticed (maybe just a problem with my settings) but on a single run when I got to over 1,000,000 domains, my computer started taking a dump on me. I think this could possibly be solved by allotting more RAM to the program, or maybe increasing the HDD space the program is allowed to use. Increasing the size of your on-disk storage may assist with this issue. As you say, the more data you're looking to consume the more resources you'll need to throw at Domain Ronin. I've personally crawled 300,000,000 (yes 300 Million) links on a 4GB RAM VPS. So not a super powerful server really and a much quicker connection than a home PC.
  • PS I didn't get a chance to check out the seed list tutorials that they have (I have a weekly license, not a monthly), but if you don't know about seed URLs then I'd urge you to check them out. Their regular tutorial vids are awesome and in-depth so I expect the same with their seed URL tutorials. The Seed List Generation Video Course is included with the monthly subscription, but if you're a weekly subscriber and want access to the course, just contact us and you can purchase it separately for $17. The course will teach anyone, noob or advanced, how to generate seed lists for any niche.
