Let's talk Saturation

I'm loosing hope. I'm loosing motivation. I'm always questioning myself instead of moving forward and I'm most likely not the only one in this situation.

My dream? Probably the same thing as you. Building a passive income online to fulfill my other dreams: Traveling, Cars, Nice house, Fancy Restaurant...

How you may ask? Personally, I would like to aim for the Amazon affiliate program. An authority site, ranked the White Hat way. I'm not in a hurry, I just want everything to be clean and perfect.

About me? I've started lurking this forum 3 years ago. What I enjoy the most is reading the journeys. It brings a smile on my face every time I read one. It gives me some hope that I can also achieve my goals, but even that is not enough to get me started.

The problem? I've tried to find a good niche, good keywords, a good plan, but I failed. Every time I search a keyword on google I just find that there is already hundreds and thousands of site on that subject already. Everyday, thousands of new site are created in hope of doing exactly what I would like to achieve. Like I said, I've started reading about Internet Marketing 3 years ago, and I just keep telling myself that since that time, the numbers of sites that were created and all the keywords that once had potential must just be already taken.

Let's say I want to target electronics. I just can't imagine my site ranking. There is already so many authority website out there. CNet, PcMag, TechRadar..

I know I sound negative, but I'm just trying to find some lights here. I just can't find the hope and motivation to get started.

Is there such thing as saturation?

There are thousands of niches on Amazon it will never be saturated .You will never succeed with that mindset you have there.For beginners avoid the electronics market.You are not digging hard with your keyword research.

I agree that the market has become tough, but could you tell me one single niche/business which has no competitors? If there is no competition then it maybe a monopoly or no potential in that particular niche. Think about yourself, you have probably fought millions of other (u know what I mean) images of yourself even before u were born.

You're right. Electronics isn't for me and the mindset I have right now is exactly what I want to get rid of.
But let's say we're 5 years in the future. How many people like me will have "searched hard to find the right keyword". Thousands of thousands. How can it not be saturated at some point? I'm honestly probably just questioning myself way to much... I just need that light in my head to start brightening again.

Haha, I like that humor and you're right. It's true, I won't find a niche without competition. I'm over analyzing things. Just creating the thread already help me, maybe this is what I need. Creating my own journey, so I can keep track of things and get some help along the way to stay motivated instead of staying by myself.

We have a section here on the forums where people sell unsaturated keywords for as low as $30 per keyword.

BTW there is no such thing as white hat seo.

The authority websites don't have everything.You need to target a specific audience your competition overlooked so you niche down.In addition to that new products are created all the time so new keywords are created.

That's a problem I have. Should I be targeting a product or something bigger? Red metal fork or Kitchen utensils?
The thing is that I have a domain name that looks like "BestReviews.com". The domain name is very very brandable but also very broad. I could target literally any niche, and I don't know if I should stick to lets say Kitchen, when the domain is that good and I could review anything.
Should I start with lets say Red metal fork, grab some audience, and expend to fork, then kitchen, and then maybe women cloth? It is possible to expend your authority site in lots of niches without affecting it?

Sorry for asking these questions. The domain name I have is really raising to much questions in my head. I know I can probably find my answers in the forum. I don't want to be that lazy guy, but if you can help a little by answering, it will be much appreciated.

It's very hard to rank on a broad domain name with no focus because then the link juice will have to be distributed over hundreds of pages, versus if you were making a microniche or small niche authority site.

I can't just do nothing with that domain right?.. Even do it's very brandable, you're saying I should still use something like BestRedMetalFork.com? Am I never gonna use my brandable domain?

if you're feeling up to the challenge then use your brand able domain. Actually I don't like EMDs myself but they do help rank.

If you're trying to artificially boost your search ranking, no matter how, it is considered BH. If it is you doing any of the link building, it is against Google's TOS.

Yeah, you're right. I guess you can't really rank without some BH. I think I'll try to rank with the domain I currently have as I don't like EMDs too. Thanks a lot for your advice Divination.

Well your plan already sucks from the get-go. How do you plan to live a life filled with "travel" "cars" "nice house" "fancy restaurants" on Amazon affiliate income? It is certainly possible but my god, you'll have a far easier time and do it much faster if you focus on digital products that have high commission rates of 50% or more rather than scrounge around for whatever the Amazon commission rate is these days.

Think about it. You sell a digital product that costs $40 and you get 75% commissions. You get $30/sale.

You sell a physical product that sells for $100 and you get 8% commissions. You get $8/sale.

If you want to make $10,000/month you'll need to make 333 sales of the former, and only need to close a $40 sale.

If you wanted to do that with your physical product, you're going to need to close 1,250 sales of a $100 product. That is a much higher price-point. Not only is it harder to close more expensive price-point items, but you're only earning a fraction of what you would from digital products anyway for all of your time, sweat and tears.

This doesn't answer your original point but it is something to think strongly about.

That's very useful info, thanks. I've already looked at clickbank 2 years ago. I've sold 2 digital book for a total of 87$. However, to my eyes, almost every product looked like scam and looked fake. It might have changes and the quality might have gotten better, or maybe I didn't look enough back then. I'll give it a look again, thanks for reminding me!

ClickBank has tonnes of great products, but it is just one small slice of the digital product pie. Sign up to CPA sites and see what your options are, and look for unsaturated niches amoungst the items that you find. You'll still have to do the research to find unsaturated niches, but at least you won't be starting from a flawed premise.

E.g. it is a saturated market (I have a unique strategy though which is how I'm able to move within the market) but I push website hosting. A $25 sale equals a $105 commission. There are lots of valuable digital products like that, and they have much higher commission rates and often much higher conversion rates.

When you target, you take something that exists and you cater to it

When you create, you make a NEW sub-niche

In the world of electronic consumer goods, you can take a REVIEW format and use an UNORTHODOX or WEIRD approach

Like a review site disguised as an ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT FAIL site (ie., you take failure news to PIMP the stuff you want to sell)

A little CREATIVITY is the way out of SATURATION problems
