So, I have reached 7500 limit:
  • Account Stats: 7500 following, 2000 followers
Then unfollowed the ones who doesn't follow back.
  • Account Stats:2500 following, 2500 followers
Then I have reached again to 7500
  • Account Stats: 7500 following, 4000 followers
Then unfollowed all non followers
  • Account Stats: following 4500, followers 4500
Now I will again start following, but all that process tooks quite a long time. So I have a few questions in my mind like:
  • Until when should I continue like that ?
  • When should I unfollow all ?
  • When should I start shootouts ?
  • When should I start contests ?
  • What should I do to boost the account followers at this point ?
  • What is your strategy suggestions ?

They've gotten really good at tracking this sort of behavior. Don't be too aggressive or they might limit your account or ghost ban it.

Hi, thanks for the comment, please take no offense, but these kind of comments don't help, instead it distracts the focus, nothing more than stating the obvious, and not an answer to any of my questions.

No offense taken.

Maybe I wasn't clear, I thought I had blanked-answered your questions. Here is the answer to the two first questions: Don't continue to reach the limit if you don't want this account limited soon.

As for the last two questions, you need to be creative. How are your competitors growing their IG presence? Real world marketing? Ads? Promoting the IG account via their site?

Your questions are quite hard to answer, because there is no general ultimative rule for a point of starting shotouts, contests, etc.

Thanks again, If I stop reaching the limit, then it will be like follow and unfollow at the same time, which is also pretty bad. Maybe I should put my own upper and lower limit like 6000 - 2000.

I don't have much competitors, I am doing animal niche but in my local country, I don't take global animal niche accounts as competitors. So I don't have much quality accounts do to shootouts. I am unclear about what should I do to boost at the moment. I am not sure if it is early for a shootout or contest, or even I am not sure if they will work or not.

Is this a local business? Pet shop or something?

I know that there is no general rule, that is why I am not asking as general , but your personal strategies, and what would you do based on your personal experience.

I would advise you to never reach that 7k following mark. I personally prefer unfollowing the non-followers after reaching about 4k followers. I'm currently at 250k followers, and I've never been suspended. It's a safe practice.

so you follow until 4K following? and then unfollow down to 0?

I hardly ever unfollow to 0. I unfollow the non-followers and even if I decide to unfollow the people who are following me, I never bring it down to 0. It's almost always up until 500-700.

any reason for this or no?

I've always tried to avoid hitting the extremes i.e. 7.5k and 0. Not sure if it even helps, but none of my accounts have ever suspended and it's been working well for me. Don't feel the need to tamper with it.

So the larger question here - and I'm not seeing a clear answer in this thread - is whether the concern is that this activity will get you suspended, or whether it will somehow get you "ghosted".

Someone please explain ghosting & how you prove that it happens to an account. I've never gotten a clear answer about this. I'm not entirely convinced that it's a real thing.

  1. Stop it right now.
  2. Now. When you unfollow all, continue with this method: follow for 3 days, wait 24-48 hours, and then start unfollowing until 0. It is not good that you have so high following, some people will think that your account is spammy, so this will drop ur follow back ratio.
  3. I'd recommend you after 20k+
  4. I don't understand that, you meant content?
  5. Post HQ photos/vids, make good pp/bio, engage with your followers, join engagement groups, do SFS....
  6. ^^

4 - Contests mean, like lottery, or reward giving to your followers who completes an action. (ex: tagging a friend, or commenting)
5 - I am posting HQ photos/vids, my page is good, also engaging with followers, well also hashtags and a few more tactics but not created a real boost yet.
