FREEDOM​

I've been working for a software programmer for six years and have been working out of my home for the past two of them. My boss told me this morning (after an argument) that he wants me to start working out of HIS house in an effort to "regain control of his company". The company has been heading down the shitter for a long time now. His offline software is quickly being replaced by quicker and more detailed online solutions from other vendors. Asking me to give up IM and leave my home to work was pretty much forcing me to quit and he knew that.

I haven't needed the job for a long time now and only kept doing it out of loyalty and the extra paycheck. My job was pretty simple too, just answer the phone and provide IT support. It did hold me back from doing many IM related things though. Anyone that's talked to me on aol/yahoo/etc knows I leave people hanging and just come and go without notice, lol. This is because of the phone. Hopefully this will put an end to that.

Today I feel a sense of freedom that I haven't felt in years and just thought I'd share.

It hit me a few hours after I got off the phone with him. I can goto the beach!! Go anywhere I want!! I'm not tied down to the house/phone all day!!

Congratulations to you Pofecker!

It's a transition, that's for sure. I did a similar thing a couple years ago when I basically paid my old WH partners to just go away, moved my office to my home, redistributed my datacenter assets and kept my WH customers in the process.

What you'll find is that you'll get way more work done in way less time. And the temptation to just "screw off" occasionally will be tempting. But you've got a pretty good work ethic so you'll make it through that.

I think you'll find that once things settle down after the initial "I gotta get busy" a whole layer of stress you didn't even know you had will melt away.

Way back when (just out of high school) I used to pray to get fired or layed off around every May, usually found a way to make that happen.

I still have my final 'departure' letter framed and hanging on the wall.

Freedom is a good thing, use it wisely, don't be to free and forget about IM. The reason I would see in having a job while doing internet marketing is having something to fill the days with.

i want to quit too, i work for a year from now (im 26) for a travel company and it's boring, IM is so much exciting
yup, and i also would like to feel the freedom again (i know what im talking about, because before this company i never worked for anybody...i don't be sure it's a shame or not but i never worked before
i'd like to enjoy my life again and quit the fuckin 9/5 rat-race!

but it is a very good question why i cannot do that, we have all the knowledge, methods, tools and services here to make money, pay our bills and so much more!

i'll go to a few days holiday, i have to think over again about quitting, because life is so fuckin short and the girls are so pretty
...so we have no time to wastin

I had a job once when I was 17....I worked at this sh!t hole restaurant. This old lady asked me to wrap her beer battered chicken in a paper towel becouse she had high cholesterol..Being nice I did exactly as she requested....The ole B!tch ate almost the whole meal then complained to the manager that there was a piece of paper towel in her food. From that day on I have been completely against working...I don't even accept blow jobs.
