Hi everyone hope your all keeping well :0

Ive pondering for quite some time now......

Ive been keen about SEO for years now, always learning its always been an interest to me, but now im considering 2 options......

Start a local seo business ( targeting small to medium size business) or building my own online niche websites and ranking them and earning money that way.... ( if it works)

I already have a small business ( not computer related) so i have weekly income already, and i have spare time......

If you were me what would you do?

Why not both? Too busy thinking?

HA HA yes your right! The amount of time thinking waste's is unbelievable.

#Analysisparalysis lol

I have so many ideas i dont know which one to start first

I'm in the same boat as you. Right now I'm ranking affiliate sites and making commission off that. I keep hearing how much of a pain it is to deal with clients, especially smaller businesses since they usually expect to pay less and expect more.

I'm getting my AA in Computer Programming right now so either I can start working for a company or build my own clients. With that in mind I'm leaning towards my own clients since I like the freedom IM gives you.

That's just me though. There's nothing wrong with working for someone else. At least when your shift is over you don't need to worry about it.

Having your own business means your responsible for it 24/7

yes having your own business can be a pain in the butt - but you cant get fired, you choose who you work with, give yourself a payrise, and only kiss your clients butts lol.

Im thinking of starting my own web based service business......rather than ranking a clients website and watching them make all the money....not sure which is the better option really ????

with client seo you don't have to give a shit about rankings :)

Isn't that the opposite of what your client would expect?

As a SEO, they are paying you to rank their sites and thus you should give a crap... in fact that is the first thing I check in the mornings; where my clients are ranking.

I don't check my previous day's revenue, my previous day's traffic, my emails, my Skype messages, the weather outside, the news (local or national) or even if the fish are biting.

I check the rankings of my clients because I do give a crap and any SEO should give one as well.

People who offer SEO service do it because they can't rank their own websites.

When you think about that....it actually makes sense. Or they have no business idea of their own.....

How so? Isn't ranking client's sites your job? How do you not give a shit about rankings when you literally have to rank client's site? If i'm a client and I want you to rank my site and you can't get the job done and don't give a shit about rankings, I wouldn't use your service again. What you are saying doesn't make sense to me at all.

Client SEO to pay the bills and to fund the Affiliate Stuff until it takes off.
I would go with this model, but since you have a business and I guess some money funding the affiliate stuff shouldn't really be a problem for you(making extra money from client SEO is always nice, of course. :D)

Clients are dicks. However, you can rinse them for very little work. As mentioned, use that money to invest in your own sites. Once you're making double or triple what clients pay, just build more and more aff sites and eventually get rid of clients. They're a headache that won't go away. They are YOUR boss, even if you think you run your own business. You are below your clients.

Yes, I'm bitter. My clients have been with me for years but I hate them deep down. They don't pay on time. They aren't happy with extreme ROI month on month. They're just dicks. But, that's London for you! Mindless, egotistical cumbuckets.

my dude :)

Sounds like you haven't ranked anything real yet, why are you considering selling your services? If you want to be in business, especially locally, don't shit on your own name with crappy untested services. Start ranking sites for your self and start taking people's money after you have some idea what you're doing. At least that's what I think you should do. If you don't care about your clients and don't have the needed experience to provide them with a quality service, you might not last very long so it's not good for business either.
