You only use spun content for tier two and three.

If the rewritten article is 100% different to the orginal, than how can google find about your site, unless you are ussing this spuned article on your whole PBN

I only use original articles on my PBN. If ever there are articles that fit on the topics for my PBNs and money site, I'll read those articles quickly and get its contents and I write it as my own, or outsourced it. Spun content, no way! There's no added value on that. Treat your PBNs as your money site.

It's not just about Google finding the contents and getting it indexed, although it's a part of it. The main concern here is to build a PBN that's powerful enough to rank a website it's linking to. Publishing a spun article won't provide any value to the readers and search engines today are getting smarter at detecting crappy vs original contents. And, you might think you're PBN is not for people to read but solely for ranking purposes. You're half right, but the other half is wrong. You want something in your PBN to be somewhat useful and may not be as quality as a money site, but it should be shareable enough in social media and has a potential to become viral.
Yes, it requires work, but you'll end up with a PBN that is not just for ranking but money-generating, too.
Just my 2 cents based on my experience

When in doubt it's better to be safe than be sorry. I know buying content for PBN is so costly. 5 sites like $25 for 5 articles (one each). And you need atleast 4-5 per site. As you build it the costs increase, but still safer than spun content.

I know people hwo are pretty successful and have over 200 PBNs all with spun content, he said he was caught only once and hasn't had a problem since as long as he hid the footprints + different hostings

There is no problem at all if your articles are spun but 100% unique!
Using spinned articles will do more harm than benefits to your blog or even website. You need to be very careful when you are handling the quality of content on the blogs that you run. One thing with the spinning software is that they add up some of the terms that even do not make sense thus making the readability of the article a harder thing.

Everyone screaming "unique, handwritten content", "treat your PBN sites like your money site" etc. Have you actually tried doing otherwise?
Last time I used cheap handwritten content on my PBN and this time I'll try using generated content. So far the sites index fine, haven't built any links yet though. Curious how it will go.

A lot of bro science here from people who have never tried it at all. we have 1000's, yes 1000's of pbns with spun content. After receiving crap from 3rd world writers my spun stuff was 90% "as good"

If the content is spunned using specialized software such as Wordai (turing spinner) , I wouldnt mind using it.

I prefer to put original because these links are very valuable so better to use Original and high quality content.
