Happy Independence DAY

Happy independence day to all.

Happy Independence Day to my fellow Americans!

It reminds me of a port visit we had in Portsmouth, England when I was in the Navy...
While we were there a Brit called out to us, "How are the COLONIES doing?". One of my fellow Sailors responded, "We're doing good ever since we kicked your ass 200 years ago!"...
and then the fight began. :)

I tell that story for humor - I very much respect the Brits and all the countries we are allied with. I even respect the people of the countries we are not allied with - we all know that people are people, wanting the same things, more or less throughout this world. Security for ourselves, health and happiness for our families etc.

Hope everyone is having a good day today - I know I am.

American's use to be independent but I don't think they are any more they are like in a Orwell tyranny now, that's just my observation when I visit them. Sad thing is that some people in former East Europe which where in Tyrany back then are still there but more free then American's. Am I wrong?

Happy Independence DAY to all USA members

Let's keep this thread light and not turn it into a political debate - otherwise we'll have to delete it...

For about 8 or nine years I lived in a neighborhood that was largely Navy guys and I can see many of those guys hopping into that fight as that was part of the fun of being a young man in the Navy.

Happy Independence Day!

If we ever forget that we are ONE NATION UNDER GOD, then we will be a nation gone under"

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY to all.

Raise the your flag high and your walls even higher!

Happy Independence Day to the States.

Does anyone know why we traditionally barbecue on July 4? I've always wondered that.

Just a way of celebrating. Not sure that BBQ is anything more than seasonal as to the celebration though.

I guess we could be steaming clams or oysters, as we did in NJ as a child as part of the celebration, but a BBQ outside in warm weather with loved ones to celebrate is probably something that works all over the USA with few exceptions.

Gotcha. Summertime happens to be the time we spend outdoors so we BBQ meat and spend time with family. Just like in winter with Christmas we drink hot chocolate and roast stuff over the fire.

Or whatever.

Happy belated Independence day to USA brothers and sisters. Hope all are unite and refuse all violence activities and make peace with love others.

Happy belated Independence Day everyone! Greetings from the Czech Republic!
