Hey OP!

Although not free, the ahrefs toolbar add-on is a god-send and by far my favorite as it allows you to do competitor research in a breeze!

It integrates nicely into your browser and shows the domain metrics, back-link count and much more right under each search listing in Google for any keyword you type!

Another great tool that is free is SearchStatus. Below is the description straight from their site. Take it with a grain of salt though since PR hasn't been updated in years.
