As we all probably spend a lot of time on the computer (I'm UBotting pretty much constantly), I have found it gets harder and harder to relax - because I *used* to think of my computer as a place to relax. But now whenever I'm there I'm checking email, writing, answering questions, etc.

I can't watch TV for more than 30 minutes most of the time, because I get bored, so it doesn't feel like real relaxation. Even going out with friends or spending time with family I usually feel a desire to be working instead.

So, just wondering what you all do to unwind and chill out after work or on the weekend. How do you get out of your own head?

Running, cycling and swimming are great. These are the outdoor activities, so to speak.
As for the indoor stuff... it's reading, movies and drawing.

Driving in some empty and beautiful roads, but then again, I'm a car enthusiast so that's my particular way of relaxing.

I do think exercise is the only thing that really works for me. Interesting that you mention that. After a nice run or something I can fairly easily relax for a bit, especially if it's the evening.

I do have a lot of friends for whom that is a big way to relax but it's never quite worked for me. I enjoy listening to music and driving for a bit though - clears the head. And in California there's a lot of beautiful roads to drive on : )

Writing, taking a walk outside, playing video games, watching cartoons, crochet, baking, cooking. Sometimes I will even do chores to relax.

I try to do things that I can get absorbed in mentally or physically. It completely distracts me from work. I have no problem relaxing then.

i took up gardening recently. I love it. If you take it seriously it gets technical.
Find yourself a lady and help her start a business
Me and mine both work from home mostly.
I get to take my laptop with me when she has stuff to do.
The company helps
more than the blowjobs surprisingly

actually i take that back. i have never been as productive as i was when i was single.
tread carefully.

but seriously find yourself one

Still not sure whether or not I should find one...

you and me both.
Looking back at my productivity levels and how i used to make new connections, its gone WAY down
when i look at it that way, its hard to recommend it to someone else
But
I got lucky and found the one i needed. Its given me inclination to do nothing but study, read, write, and brand my empire.
minus the manly duties which tend to be pretty good ways to spend time.
fixing cars, personal (mental and physical) training, saving money on everything we buy

It may be a good idea who spends countless hours ubotting
there arent THAT many things to build unless your on a endless cash grind on the internet scraping pennies
Its helped me look at the grand scheme of things and invest the time in myself, and more marketing myself and building myself product

Last I checked, there's something called SEX out there? and something that's called an orgasm that usually goes with it?
Idk, it usually works for me at least. Other than that, listening to relaxing music I guess.o_O

I just love walking in the wild. It is the best way to unwind. Personally, I always prepare a playlist on my Ipod to cover the time I will be taking the walk. There after, I will keep listening to the music as I walk. It has always worked out for me and I do it from time to time especially during the periods that I have a lot to do or just tired.

If I were you I would rather enjoy the wild sounds but thats just me

You gotta exercise man.

And if you're having problems motivating yourself... read a book about evolutionary biology. Like "Restless Creatures: The Story of Life in 10 Movements" or "Sperm Wars", etc.

Humans are an extremely outdated species. Thousands or millions of years ago how do you think we spent most of our time? According to many scientists we started in the trees. Swinging around like monkeys. And regardless of whether or not you believe that we know at some point we went from walking on 4 legs to walking on 2. Then after that we became great runners.

If you just learn the geometry of how humans walk there's so much to be said about it (compared to other animals). We have the "laziest" walk you can imagine. By lazy, when we walk we're literally just falling over and over again. Except we put 1 leg forward. And our hands & legs swing like a pendulum so we can exert the LEAST amount of energy possible while walking or running.

Why do you think we got like this? It's because we spent that much time running & traveling long distances. The fact that we can stand up on 2 legs also insulates us from reflective heat on the ground. There are so many amazing facts about how we're designed that SCREAM how unnatural it is for us to NOT be running or walking. That's why I run the fuck out of my dog 6 days / week. She's 30lbs but runs on avg 3 miles / day.

Early in the day before we both go for a run it's hilarious how we act. She can't fucking sit still. She gets up, walks in circles, sits down. Gets up, scratches the rug, sits down. Gets up, runs to a window, sits down. Jumps on me, sits down. She'll do this every other minute all day long if I don't run her. If I'm checking email when I wake up I'm shaking the shit out of my legs, moving nonstop... I can't stop fucking fidgeting or moving limbs, fingers, toes, etc. Our bodies do this shit for a reason. There are days I'll literally start trembling that's how bad it gets. The homoerectus in me is shouting GET THE FUCK UP AND RUN.

So that's what I do. I run my ass off. I run my dogs ass off. It only takes 3-4 weeks for your body to get conditioned. After just 2 weeks your feet, legs, shoulders and back will stop getting sore. The lactic acid burn goes away. Then you'll find yourself sprinting like a cheetah at speeds you had no idea were possible.

People talk about this "runners high" shit but I run cause I NEED to feel like an animal. I need to remind myself every day I'm ANIMAL. I'm not a fucking robot. My dogs not a robot. My 10 year old piranhas aren't robots. I feed those fuckers 1/2lb of fish every week. There's no sane reason or need to have other live fish in the tank with those kunts. But STILL, I always keep live fish in the tank. Every so often I know they're gonna get the murderous compulsion to kill and be the kunts they are. And they always have to kill the biggest goldfish in the tank. They never actually eat the fish. They just tear it to pieces then I gotta clean the mess up. I had 1 goldfish going almost a year he's been in that tank with those kunts. And there's dozens of smaller goldfish. It always happens where 1 goldfish grows fast as fuck. 10xs quicker than the piranhas. Then he gets around 5-6" (like half the size the kunts) and I get so excited. I'll think "MAYBE their friends now? MAYBE they won't kill him like the last 100 biggest goldfish in the tank? MAYBE I'll be the 1st person in the world to own 2 noncoexisting... coexisting species? MAYBE once that goldfish passes half the size they won't kill him cause they're scared? MAYBE they are robots afterall???"

Then I wake up, look at the tank and see a giant goldfish head floating in the trees. And his tail on the other side of the tank.

I'm not sure what the moral of this post is. I just know that we're all animals. We all have instincts. To deprive that inner animal what you know it needs... you might as well just put a bullet in its head.

Favourite thing to do when unwinding: chips/popcorn, beer and a youtube/movie video.

I would love to go for a drive, but that wouldn't be unwinding because I love to wind up the gears, rev out the engine and just have everything on full adrenaline rush-mode.

Trolling kids on GTA 5, trolling kids on COD ... downhill biking, smoking ganja, hiking, skydiving, kayaking ...

Ever tried Geocaching? You're out in nature and it's fun to do
