But even if I had a problem with him, I would never stoop to the level of making fun of his weight. That is so childish. If you legit had a problem with him, stick to the issue. And if he seriously was scamming people, don't you think the mods would have investigated and shut him down by now?

Selling keywords at a high price isn't a crime. And, SURPRISE! There's enough customers to go around. It isn't exclusive, and most people will buy keywords from more than one seller.

As for the way he treats his customers: if they let him talk to them like that and they still buy from him, obviously they don't have a problem with his customer service. Would you really throw money at someone who tells you to fuck off if you were all that offended? No.

I wonder what kind of threats I'd get if I decided to sell keywords on BHW, or God forbid, quality content. What a shitty thing to do.

Back when I briefly had a keyword BST here, I had an encounter with a purported competitor (some transient Jr. ViP). It started when I promoted my new service by opening up a giveaway thread. Everything went well until I saw the only Jr. Vip in the entire thread ask for thr giveaway keywords. I looked into his profile and saw that he had about 50 different BST fail theeads, and one of them was a keyword BST.

So I sent him some shoddy keywords and he responded with something like this:

"Hey, thanks for the keywords! Just to let you know, I'm a keyword seller here and these aren't low competition keywords at all mate, but good luck anyway".
I let him know I already knew he was scoping out the competition, and if he really thought I would send him or (insert long list of keyword sellers here) anything good.

He didn't respond. Instead, he reported my giveaway thread in an attempt to get it taken down (misusing thr report funtion). I know this because I took screenshots of his profile activity showing that he went to my profile, went to my thread, and then reported it before going back to my thread.

I closed the BST 6 months later because I come here to get away from doing work, not do more of it, but if I open up another BST, I'm planning on offering similar services to the ones I offer locally (or better yet, a "clean up" service to take out shoddy online marleters) rather than a competitive single-service BST.

To be honest the biggest downside of the BST was never the customers... just the competitors.

Several people pulled similar tricks. I've not spoken with Jared since his little out burst but life's too short to argue with people who call you fat over the internet.

Spot on with your first point.

I had a member (let's call him "M" for namesake) on here message me prior to one of my BST's going live wishing me luck.. and then when I eventually go live, he rates my thread with a 1 star rating (note: he also sells SEO services here) AND then has the fucking balls to message me asking for a discount/consultation for that very service I launched. And what makes it even more hilarious is the fact that it was ME who told this member back in 2011 to sign up to BHW in the first place.

I'm not going to out this member, but if you're reading this "M".. go fuck yourself you 2 faced, hypocritical prick.

Good interview btw. @Ste Fishkin will always be one of the most realest guys on here and I respect that - unlike some others.

I have to agree with Ste as well; it's not the customers who are the problem, it's the competitors in this industry, and it looks like we've all dealt with that issue at one time or another!

A couple of months ago, one of my local competitors tried converting a client of mine by sending him "SEO advice" based on my client's site that was still under development. He sent my client a Screencast video where he said, "Yeah, you need more content here and Google loves content, and you need local citations, and content is king, and (insert more Guru-talk here)". Mind you, he was "auditing" (if you can call it that) a site that was incomplete and trying to make himself look like an expert in the industry with kiddie-tools and marketing lingo.

Well, that pissed me off, so I went through that self-proclaimed SEO's site and social media pages and saw that he published a Facebook post where he's bragging about how he ranked a client for some keyword. However, the keyword returned no data in the Google Keyword Planner (just dashes) and his client is barely ranking for that. This same guy is also charging his customers for "Web design" and "mobile design" services, but he's using Wix and Weebly both for himself and these people. My favourite part was when I saw that they aren't even close to ranking for their own brand name (It's not even on page 10). Typing in their URL results in a "Did you mean..." to pop-up, too!

It really stresses me out seeing how prevalent shoddy online marketers are.

Edit: Oh man, I was going through one of the competitor's client sites right now and the images have no title and the alt text just says "Picture" on all of them!

After reading the introduction I still have no idea why you interviewed Ste Fishkin (like is he making $50k/month like Rohit Palit? what makes you want to interview him and what makes you think he is successful ).

Since this interview is also posted on your blog and not every reader are BHW members, it'd better to be more detailed about this part.

Thanks for the second interview anyway, looking forward to next one!

@T2tkid - You just got yourself a shiny new infraction for insulting another member. Either learn to express yourself and your feelings in a smart, diplomatic way.. or don't bother at all.

Your attitude here (looking to start fights/drama), and the fact that you think it's cool to call a fellow BHW member a "retard" (hate that word) is not acceptable, it won't be tolerated either.
