Dropshipping from 2 suppliers - What would you do?

Hello people,

I operate an e-commerce store with about 3500 products ( mostly in stock ) from a reputable wholesaler/dropshipper. I'm targetting EU countries and the website and everything is in English.

I came across a distributor that I knew about, but never worked with them in the past, although I have a trade account and can see wholesale prices etc.

He's offering a vast collection of products ( around 13000 in total with more than 11000+ always in stock ) with many more categories and versatility ( = the customer will love most of them )

I know the niche very well and I know how to make it work.

My question to you, both as a customer who would buy from such a shop and as a business owner who would want to keep his customers happy :

Would you combine the two dropshippers into the website, given the fact that they will ship in a different manner and the customer will receive two parcels if the products he/she buys are from both of those suppliers? How would it be as an experience to you if you bought 4 items and you received two tracking codes and two shipments?

Both of the suppliers are in the same country, have very good shipping policies ( same day shipping and low rates to most European countries that are of my target group ) and unfortunately there's not a system/software or any other way in which I could combine the shipments.

How would you address that as a business owner?

Again, both suppliers have very good product lines, with one being sort of "cream of the crop" while the other being "lots and lots of everything but most of the stuff are of good value/quality".

I know that if this was an eBay store, the customer wouldn't have a problem 99% of the time, because that's the way eBay works and whoever is shopping on eBay knows it beforehand.

If I finally merge both suppliers in my store, I will let the customers know ( on the info pages of the shop and both on the order notes after the order payment etc ) that their order might be shipped into two packages.

Any ideas/comments are welcome. I know I might be making this a bigger deal than it is, but I really want to hear a second opinion that might clear things up.

The problem with that is that I don't want to charge for different shipping for different products. I know from experience that customers are whiny little b***es when it comes to paying for shipping or other extra costs, and my main concern is when someone buys 2+ products that aren't from the same supplier. I'll have to charge the customer one flat rate for the whole shipment but I then need to pay separately for everything to my suppliers.

As I'm digging into the issue, I might ditch the one wth the fewer products. He might be one of the best but the price difference between the two are mostly non-existent, but one charges 3.5 euros extra for each parcel, whether big or small. That could eliminate any margin left on the cheaper products when the customer buys one or two.

Arrgh... can't have everything the way we want it I guess.
