Ask Me Anything about selling on eBay

never ever do this. This is just asking paypal to ban both accounts.

Toml3030 are you absolutely sure on that? the only reason i ask is because i have been sending money to other main stealth Paypal accounts that have bank accounts attached to them for over a year and a half now with no problems at all so far.

what i have read from other people that send money to other Paypal accounts as services is that the risk you take is when something wrong happens to just one account on Ebay or Paypal from doing something bad all Paypal accounts that were sending funds to a particular Paypal account including the receiving Paypal account will get limited.

so when just 1 account goes down all accounts will go down and you would lose them all forever but Paypal can not limit you just because you are using 3 Paypal accounts to send to 1 main Paypal account.

just think of all the millions and millions of legitimate transactions that are done to people that send money to each other every week or month Paypal cant limit everyone just because your repeating business with another Paypal member because there would be way, and i mean way to many innocent accounts limited and banned just because they were repeating buisness.

Yes, I'm pretty sure.

Are you transferring $ between accounts linked to banned accounts? Paypal is going to leave you alone as long as you're transferring between live accounts.

IIRC the question was that the OP wanted to transfer $ from a limited account to a new one he creates. You think paypal is too dumb not to notice this?

oh heavens NO! transferring money between any unverified, linked, limited, or banned Paypal accounts is the very worst thing a person could ever do it would be death sentences for any Paypal accounts. i was speaking in regard to sending money to other Paypal accounts that have all cookies and all information separated and are verified, aged, and have never had any disputes or cases opened against the accounts those types of accounts is what i have been sending funds from for over a year and a half now with no problems at all so far.

im not sure what you are talking about my friend i was the one that originally asked you about transferring funds to other Paypal accounts in post #273 in this thread of yours i was not speaking in regard to anyone sending money to unverified, linked, limited, or banned Paypal accounts and if they do they might as well put that money in a fire. and op means original post and that would be you because you started this thread so what are you talking about?

so Toml3030 do you ever send funds from Paypal accounts to other main Paypal accounts that have real bank accounts attached to them? or do you just use a real bank account with every single paypal account that you own?

I still wouldn't do it if it can be avoided. At some point in the future paypal is going to be want to be treated like a bank (way too much money in it for them if they get big enough) and at that point they will make a real attempt to shut down stealth accounts.

Every single paypal that is attached to a selling account and has significant sales ($1000+) is attached to real bank account.

Yesterday I registered new eBay account, listed 3 items and got suspended :( I called them and reason is that my account is new and maybe I will get it back, I don't know. But what should I do when I have new eBay account and want to sell (amazon to ebay dropshipping)?

A few weeks in and you're making $50-100 a day! Congrats! I've been busy for the last 3 months trying to develop automation software and haven't really got my sales up during that time. I was wondering if you could share some things about your own journey:

1) How do you research what items to list? I think everyone has their own methods of doing things.
2) How long do you wait for an item to sell before delisting it?
3) How much time do you spend for making each listing look good?
4) Is most of your profit from just a few of the item that you have for sale? A few items that keep selling? Or is it more spread out?
5) What is the typical selling price range for the items you have listed?

Hey Toml3030- Amazing thread! I read your every response. As an eBay noob, I learned a ton here. Thank you so, so much! I am currently doing the old Amazon-eBay DS and doing fairly well ($50-100 a day after fees) for someone a few weeks in, but it's a drain dealing with being a middle man for shipping, having Amazon accts banned, stealth CCs, gift cards, etc, etc. I'd like to go more direct in my products along the lines of what you are doing.

From what I understand, you probably wouldn't bother with BHW-type solutions if eBay, PayPal and Amazon if they were reasonable and more professional, especially eBay. What you have set up are fail-safes more than anything else. Your warnings are duly noted and heeded!

A few questions:

  • Whats the best way to go about finding companies to Dropship for? Have you had great successes and failures? As dropshipping on eBay places your defect rate in the hands of other people, I'd like to know what the best strategies are for mitigating these issues as much as possible.
  • How many hours a week do you usually work? 'Success starts at 40 hours' is the old adage and I have no issues with that but it's all about maximizing your time, IMO.
  • What other Forums do you usually browse and get ideas from?
  • What research tools do you use, like TeraPeak? I realize that you have your niche picked out but you must have some opinion as you've mentioned them in this thread.

Again, I really, sincerely appreciate this AMA and your candid, honest responses. Thanks again!!!

They don't just ban new accounts for selling. You are definitely doing something to set off eBay bots; I suspect that either you are being linked to another account or there's something wrong with account creation.

This is my first account. What could it be wrong with creation..? Listed items price were around $10, kitchen appliances... I will call them tomorrow and should I tell them that I am dropshipping? If no,then what should I tell them?

Are you logging in with the IP from the country your accounts are registered in? Did you use a real address to register your eBay/paypal account? Are you using a computer with cookies from an eBay account you logged into before?

At this point, I would just start over. They're not going to tell you the reason you were banned (and remember, it's perfectly okay for eBay reps to lie to you why you were banned even if they did), and eBay does not look favorable upon drop shippers (they don't ban drop sellers just for drop shipping, but they want you to list only items you have in your hands) and even if somehow they unlimit you your account has most likely been flagged.

Hey tom,

Do you have any 'guides' associated with your stores? To try and promote your store or products? Thinking of writing a few high quality niche related guides but unsure how much exposure they really get

I have ecommerce sites set up for my 5 biggest accounts that gives more information and pictures of my items. For example if my store is toml3030ebaystore I have toml3030ebaystore.com where items listed on that account is listed at a slightly lower price. I may throw in flyer with a coupon code or two when I ship eBay shipments. But other than that I don't do too much promotion. But people who know a little bit about the niche will know that what I'm selling for the price is very competitive.

Interesting, thanks for the response. How dedicated do you stay to the niches per account? Basically do you have profitable, non related niches on the same account? Or do you pad profitable niches w/ other related, but not as profitable niches?

All except one account for "everything else" is in one category. Basically when an account starts I will start selling with a $5-$50 items that I know sells. Each account sells similar items until they take off and when sales get to a certain range, then I will start to differentiate an account by selling even more specific items. Accounts that get a couple of limit increases will get higher priced and more risky items to sell and accounts that don't get limit increases will be shelved. (If I was evil, I'd sell those accounts here knowing that they won't get limit increases. I'm sure 1 year + accounts with 50-100 feedbacks can be sold)

My main account got banned and negative balance, I think its asking me to pay that off to reopen it. I want to do it!

You have any experience or tips about this?

Why would an acct not get limit increases? Due to niche related risks? woodbuyaccounts/10 lol

It sounds as if you focus on a rather specific niche. But you have 15+ accounts?
Are all your account niches related in some way? For example if your involved in basketball:

Account 1 niche: Basketball shoes
Account 2 niche: Basketball jerseys
Account 3 niche: Basketball goals
etc etc

Or are many of your other accounts completely unrelated?

Generally unless you violated other eBay policies paying off a negative balance will restore an account. If however you have other violations, once you pay nothing will happen.

It's my experience that 5/100 or 10/1000 accounts when PERFECT, get raises to about 10000 to 25000 very quickly and stay for a while and then you get rapid increases again to 150000 to 250000 area. If accounts don't start getting limit increases from 5/100 to 10/1000 after about 50 sales, they rarely get raises. This might be because what I sell or a function of my average sales/salethrough.

Category is very broad. Let's says "sports equipment" Each account when it gets big will be "golf equipment" "basketball equipment" "swimming equipment" , etc. Important thing is to never sell the same item across different accounts. Exact same item will never be sold on more than one account.

Is there a way to see if you have other violations?

Also I opened a new account and it got banned since they found out about my old one thats in the negative

1. eBay isn't going to tell you if you have violation.

2. creating a new account while one you have is restricted is a BIG no no with eBay. Now both accounts will never be reinstated.
