XenForo....Why?

Hi Friends,

I see that BH has changed from V.Bulletin to XenForo. I know the history of XenFero but not sure Why BH changed over.

• Isn't it basically the same?
• Why the Drastic move (must have been alot of work to transfer data)?

Anyone?

It is much faster than vBulletin. And there are many other reasons.

VBulletin was dated and it was time BHW changed to Web 2.0, as Xenforo is known as Web 2.0 of forums.

XenForo is way better. VBulletin has failed to innovate.

Based on what I read, XenForo apparently has more "modern" features and the back end is easier to use.

Xenforo is better than VBulletin mostly because of the notification setttings, and it's much faster. Easier to manage from the admin side as well. Only downside is, it's easier to spam on.

The new BHW is way better than the old one, so I guess no, it's not very similar, the notification system is amazing, I like how you can tag people now, not to mention BHW is mobile responsive now which is a huge plus point.

Why the Drastic move (must have been alot of work to transfer data)?

Pretty sure I read something like moving to Xenforo will give BHW a lot of freedom to customize things, for example, they're working to make the Marketplace better with a lot of new features which apparently couldn't be done on the old forum.

Bottom line is, it's way better than VBulletin, at least from BHW's perspective.

BH world was always mobile....you just had to know how to change the interface on your phone. Not sure if Xenforo is BETTER for SEO or not.

Anyway, i just was curious. Still not sure WHY they did it. That's a lot of work to transfer Data like that.

Because vbulletin is so outdated, its the forum version of continuing to use XP

XenForo is ok, it is just the layout that has many breaks or spaces.
I guess the theme needs to be optimized.

Yes...exactly. Definitely not as "tight" as vbulletin.

I love it, it's really grown on me. It's like a super charged version of what we had before.. notifications, tagging system, epic mobile version and more, I'm starting to wonder how I survived without those notifications.

There is still quite a bit of work going on behind the scenes afaik, there will be more changes and edits I would imagine. I know DD has big plans for future development of the market place, XenForo makes all of that much easier.

I like it, it really doesn't feel all that different. Only things I'd like changed are:
- Be able to sort my news feed so it becomes just posts and threads. And then have the option to switch back to posts, threads, and posts liked by people I follow.
- I want to be able to customize what comes up in the drop down menu that appears when you hover over your name. It's the button right beside "Alerts". Right now it's a bunch of options that I touch maybe once a year. I'd like it to only be: News feed, alerts and your content.
- Profile avatars looked better on vBulletin. This is probably a minor fix and one that doesn't really bother me.
- I find it weird how the Moderators have the same color name and banner as people who have been banned. It screws me up sometimes.

Other than those fairly cosmetic, UX changes I'm really happy with the outcome. They did a great job overall.
