I need a VCC that has Rupee on it. Or that can make a purchase in Rupee.

Seems there is tons of services that let Indians buy USD VCC but not Americans buy Rupee VCC.

That's probably coz the reserve bank of India doesn't like the concept of "virtual credit cards".

It actually does. A lot of banks provide this service to generate a One Time use card.

ICICI bank has ICICI Pockets - which is a virtual card.

@Brink get the Freecharge App. It allows you to maintain a wallet and generates a one-time mastercard called "Freecharge Go"

https://www.freecharge.in/mobile/freecharge-go

This is valid at most merchants that accept a Mastercard.

The balance is taken from your Freecharge Wallet. So everytime you add funds, your VCC can be used.

I don't see why not?

Freecharge is an Indian company. The MasterCard you are issued is issued in INR.

Just remember though, Freecharge requires you to verify your mobile number. So you may have to approach someone in India to do that for you.

Well, if you're not living in India, most of the Indian ecom sites will accept your $$ payments (or Euro, GBP, etc currency) without complaints. They accept VISA, MC, or Paypal, etc, and those payment gateways will convert the foreign currency into INR automatically. E.g., the $ (or the foreign currency) will get converted into INR automatically and then the payment will be made in INR. Try it first... or anyone has for example an SBI account can create a one-time VCC and you can use that detail to purchase from an Indian site. Also check if they deliver the item to your destination before you order.

But does the freecharge thing work for International transfers? Like say for instance some banks in India do not allow to fund a payment processor based outside India...mostly the nationalized ones...if I get the VCC...do you think if I attach it to payment processor, it can help me fund my account? Would appreciate some insights.

Actually that is not entirely the case.

India has a compulsory payment layer called 3D-Secure on all Credit & Debit Transactions. So the paying card needs to be active the same (Verified by Visa for Visa, Mastercard Securecode for Mastercard etc/)

This is not mandatory for American oe European cards - so the transactions will fial.

No Freecharge Go will work with Indian merchants only. Or Gateways that process transactions in INR only.
