Very weird bug when I tried to reply to a topic

Hi Guys,

I tried to reply to this thread here:

When I did this and pressed post it took me to a white page with an advertising banner on it, along with the black text "you have 1 unread conversation" underneath.

I just messed up, I did print screen this but I didn't save it, then copied the URL for the thread so it's gone. I have since tried to recreate the bug but it did not allow me to do this. It looked like an intermittent thing.

I'm wondering if you start a reply, get a PM while you write the reply but before you press post, maybe you can recreate this? I of course have no way to do this.

I hope it helps... if I get this again I will screen shot it and add it to this thread.

Can confirm this. Had the same error while replying to a thread on mobile.

White screen with an advertisement banner on top.

However, when I tried accessing the thread again, the reply that I was posting was processed correctly.
 
The same thing happened to me earlier as well. It took me to a storm proxy banner on a white page..

I saw u had 6,999 likes Ste, so i made them 7k cuz u are really famous.

@Ste Fishkin was it a 728x90 banner similar to the ones you see around the forum? There is an acknowledged issue that we're looking at but it will only happen when your edit or reply button is over a specific location on the site. Something to do with the layers the design guys tell me. We're on it. But it's not high on the list.

Well I was able to capture it, this is what I got while replying as mentioned by Ste, It worked the second time.

Just a few seconds ago it happened the same to me while replying to @OldSalt conversation. It was on mobile and it happened as I submitted a reply. The replied went through and was posted successfully so i really dont know what could have made it happen. The url was the url of the conversation though.
 
I just had it happen after a post reply, and after a PM sent.

For everyone concerned, I've seen it too and obviously Diamond Damien is aware of it (purposely NOT linking him since he's already aware of the issue). I have found that if you refresh the page, you will be taken to the conversation and you will see that it posted correctly - just the acknowledgement page came up wrong. Because it's actually working, it's on the list of items to be worked on, but not top priority.

that's exactly what happens to me as well every time I reply to a PM conversation, it redirects to that page that keeps loading and only shows a banner like that, nothing else.

Ps -saw that you're aware of it, so that's good, it means it will be fixed at some point. refreshing the page does seem to go to where it's supposed to for now.

Seeing as how 'post reply' is one of the main features of the site, I'm surprised this is not a main priority. I get that it still 'works' , but only because i came to this thread and read ur message that it still works. When I posted the reply and got taken to the white page, when i hit Back I'm either taken to a blank tab or the wrong page of the post , so when i was looking for my reply i didn't see it. Turns out i posted the same reply 3x cuz i didn't know it was being posted (since removed the dupes) This probly ties into the fact that im not used to the new bhw design, but this seems like kind of a major problem seeing as how its one of the only features I use (and im sure it's the same for others) on the site.

EDIT: Just want to add that i played with the window size and even shrunk it down to tablet where there were no banners displayed under the post reply button and the glitch still happened. So "only happens when a banner is directly below the reply button" seems incorrect.

2ND EDIT: just happened again as I edited my post, but not when i first posted it. Just want to update the "back" button glitch that is tied into this problem. It seems that the acknowledgement page isn't recognized in the browser so when you hit Back it thinks you're still on the post page so you actually get taken back 2 pages.
