They're obviously a larger business, so no question why they already have it. But there are work arounds to everything. Some methods on here if you look hard enough. Not an easy task though, they don't just give them away.

Actually, no one can do this manually. Almost all social networks give Verified badges only to celebrities, brands, or just famous people. You can't request one. The best thing you can do, if you are indeed popular, is to link your profile from your main website and hope they'll give you a verified badge.
For example, to get verified on Instagram, you just place a link on your main site's Home page or About page.
Edit: If you don't have a website, you can link all your social media to let them know you are the real owner of all these pages. An example would be YouTube. See how many popular YouTubers link all their social media on their About section?

Contact social media agencies in your country many will have direct contact with Instagram concerned department. Expect to pay $$$ and you will be asked for some proof documents.

I've thought about doing this for some of my legitimate brands; however I'm building them through botting. Does anyone know if they review your activity or watch more closely if you're verified? I suppose it could work the other way as well, giving ban immunity to verified accounts.
Yes 100% they know what accounts are botted and have use of computers and softwares, you will not get verified. Unless your brand becomes a worldwide phenomenon
I have sold many brands verified accounts i would know lol , i got few right now too
