Use a brand domain with other suffix !!

Hi BHW,

I've been busy with lately, sometimes without internet access.

Anyway, I've been thinking about using a brand domain with other suffix like udemy.fr or upwork.net (don't check, they are not available, just for example). To be precise, the brand I am willing to copy has a country suffix, like .fr or .de and I am trying to use .com or .net or .xyz, Plus, I may use some of its content from time to time.

Now I know what you're thinking, if it is a brand, such domain names wouldn't be available, let's just say I got a clue.

So, my question is will I get in deep trouble doing that ?? I am planning to gain fast money doing that, then I will stop.

According to your country you may have issues.
In France the law is that you can use an already existing business name as long as you don't operate in the same market / close market. To be confirmed for a patterned brand (i do believe it is the same rule but not 100% sure).
For instance, if you took upwork you can't do anything related to remote working, from a hiring platform to a freelancer contract settlement platform for instance but you could use it to sell tea.

That being said, lawyers would sent you threats warnings anyhow in spite of your location. Then you have to weight troubles VS gain of using a similar name.
