[eCommerce] First Time at Amazon Affiliation

Hey guys,

I haven't made a journey in over a year (been busy learning web development) and I've recently wanted to try Amazon Affiliate. So I built an eCommerce site over the past week and decided to make a journey so others can learn as I go through this process. Before we go on, I want to say that I've never done an eCommerce project before. So this will be new to me, as much as it is new to some of you.

Hope we can all learn something together!

What's the plan, Stan? (My name isn't Stan btw)
Okay, so the plan is pretty simple, SEO & Social Media. Yup, just those two. I have one keyword that I'm tackling which has 1300~ monthly searches and it looks like the keyword is pretty easy. I got this keyword from a service here on BHW.

With eCommerce sites make sure there are not many distractions that will take away attention from the product your trying to sell, make sure you keep your clients on the page as long as possible, make sure there are no links on the page that will direct the client off your sales page.

Always be ready to experiment with the design and lay out of the page, test different landing pages for your sales page and then pic a winner that coverts the best out of them all, you can do that by running split tests. Best of luck.

[Day 1] April 21, 2016
So today is day one and I've purchased a domain (obviously) and a SSL since we are building an eCommerce, I want my visitors to feel safe while looking at items, especially if I want them to buy things.

So the domain is all set up and designed (minus the fact that I need to upload my logo), but I'll do that another day. All the products have descriptions, reviews, images, and etc which is all gathered from Amazon. All the "Buy this product" buttons will bring the user to the products Amazon page respectively with my tracking ID added to the URL (need to make that $$$$$$)

Social Media
I've already started building the social media accounts a week ago before I started this part. This means that the Twitter, Pinterest, and Instagram have all been running on FollowLiker and been getting followers and user engagement. I'm not being aggressive with the social media. I only have a link to my website in the bio of each media account.

How am I getting content for all these accounts? Well for Pinterest and Twitter it's simple, I set up IFTTT to post to my Twitter every time Followliker posts to my Pinterest board. This means both my Pinterest and Twitter are highly active and I'm getting a good amount of Followers and user engagement pretty easy. Instagram on the other hand, I'm going manually. I have a few posts on their that are targeting specific hashtags. I'll be posting on there every now and then, since I don't need to post to much there to gain followers because, I'm using FollowLiker.

I've built about 70~ web2.0 from Ranker X and I've set up a 2 tier GSA SER campaign to help index those blogs. I don't know if Google is just taking forever to index them or if indexing is just a huge pain in the ass now.. but I'm trying to get these indexed ASAP.

On top of those web2.0's, I've built a mixture of 15~ EDU & GOV links and another 2 tier GSA SER campaign to help those get index and power up.

I have a 4 tier GSA SER campaign constantly building links to my homepage for brand and naked URL. These are filtered heavily (OBL < 20, and Domain TF 20+).

You might be thinking, "wow that's a lot of links to start off with". You're right, if these links were all indexed..currently none of these links are indexed and I'm going to be focusing on that for now. I'm also currently scraping for domains for a PBN; I have 2 / 5 right now. I want to see how far in the SERPs I can get for my keyword before I start building my PBN.

Glad to hear I was on the right track with the design. The site has only products, a contact page, and a disclaimer letting the users know that this is an Amazon Affiliate site. I want the users to come, see a product they like, and get taken to Amazon ASAP, which they'll complete the purchase there with my tracking ID.

I set up in Google Analytics, goals specifically tracking outbound clicks to amazon. Hopefully I set it up correctly so I can see which pages are converting the best, but I'll have to wait another hour to see how the site did today.

[Day 2] April 22, 2016 - Update #1
Starting scraping expired domains, right now I'm resolving them in ScrapeBox to see which ones are available to be registered. This won't be completed until later on in the evening probably, it has to go through a list of 48k domains. I just hoping to get at least 1 good domain to use.

Social media is going great, gained a few new followers over the night. I'll post the stats later tonight once today has been completed. I posted one new Instagram photo while Pinterest and Twitter are being automated.

I did my daily maintenance on GSA SER, like removing duplicates URLs, domains, and rechecking verified links. Rechecking verified links is what I do first every morning when I wake up. If you're tiering your links, you have to make sure these links are still alive to even pass the "link juice".

Indexing is still a tough one. I submitted everything to an indexing service this morning and hoping combined with GSA SER that it'll get these links indexed. Just going to wait it out and see how it goes.

[Day 2] April 22, 2016 - Update #2[h=2]SEO[/h]Okay so I've set up 5 domains that I've scraped from before (2 from today). Each of these domains have a "Hello World" post on them and I want to see them get indexed(seo must as well be called the index waiting game) first before I start doing anything with them.
That's it for SEO for now. Going to be focusing on seeing which links are still alive and getting them all indexed. Going to be trying different things here and there to see what works best but that's just a part of the game.
[h=2]Social Media[/h]This part seems to be doing great so far, the accounts are growing as a pace that I'm okay with, and will only increase as the days come. I'm going to be relying heavily on this for traffic in the beginning so I'm really glad that this part is going smoothly. I'm getting a few UV's / day from here, but I seem to be having trouble with setting up Goals / Events in Google Analytics to track outbound clicks. Going to be looking into this as well.

[Day 3] April 23, 2016 - Update #1
Getting a few visits a day now but nothing major and it's a mixture of social media and direct. Hopefully this will increase gradually slowly and start getting some conversions in the new few weeks / month from now.

SEO
2/5 PBN are already indexed, which is a good sign. Although I haven't started gathering content or designed them yet, but I'm going to start doing so to the ones that are already indexed.

Still working on indexing, so I'm still leaving GSA SER to build links to these domains for now. I hoping that they're index soon, but if they start taking to long then I'm going to have to look into building higher quality buffer sites or just focus on PBN's since they index super fast.

Social Media
I'm still only focusing on gaining followers and traction. Going to up the settings either tomorrow or the day after; I forget if I tweaked the settings the yesterday or the day before.. :S

I'll post my stats at the end of the day.

[Day 3] April 23, 2016 - Update #2
So I've been reading and looking into what other members do here and on other forums for indexing and I found one in particular that I'm going to try since it doesn't cost anything to do.

So what I looked into was lightningblitz method of indexing his web2.0, which uses 301 url shorteners to help index his web2.0. I created a few test ones point at a random domain and I'm going to see how well this works. If it works well, then I'm going to use it on my web2.0 to help with the indexing. His method is in the regular Black Hat SEO section and is stickied, you can't miss it.

What a long day of reading and building links, god damn I'm tired and I can't wait to go to bed after this entry.

SEO
So I did say I was going to build a test campaign with 301s url shorteners but while building them out, I realized how tedious this is, and then I was thinking, hell no am I going to do this again if it works. So I just building them all out to my existing Web2.0, profiles, and EDU links. If anything goes wrong, I'll just build new buffer sites.

All in all, I built over 700 301 url shorteners, and tiered them in GSA SER.

Same old over here, steadily growing the accounts.
