Pardon me for bumping an old thread but it was the most relevant I could find for now.
What do you guys think about linking to multiple money sites from a same web 2.0? A footprint, but how bad?
Because, having 1 WordPress for yourself, branded and filled with content is one thing(I do this for aggregation), but 10 WordPress blogs isn't about branding. When you say your competitor can report your blog. What's wrong with having a 2.0 blog for your business? I like how you gave set up details.
I know brick and mortor locations can have branded 2.0 sites, and they don't get reported. What's the difference?
That's a whole lot of work that could be put into building a pen network.
It's a good plan, except the number of posts per web 2.0 is an overkill and that many won't benefit in any way. It doesn't really matter how many filler posts the web 2.0 has, the only post that matters is the one that has your backlink in it. Of course, having 5-10 filler posts is a must and really good for interlinking, but more than that and you might as well make a new website with 250 posts and rank some keywords in the process rather than wasting your time with a web 2.0!
Trust me - I have tried many different scenarios and the filler posts didn't matter that much. Around 10 is what I write for each web 2.0 and even that sometimes is an overkill unless I am in a really competitive niche. Instead of writing 250 posts per web 2.0, just write 10 posts per each web 2.0 and you have 25 backlinks that are quality and in enough quantity to move you up the SERP-s. You will simply waste time and money with that many posts and then you will regret not listening to me 6 months down the roadJust a friendly advice from someone who has dealt with web 2.0-s since I started SEO many years ago...
There are only going to be a few with high 100 posts, because I am posting out of copyright, old books and it makes sense to post them in one location. It isn't just about the links with this plan, it is about creating a useful web2.0 experience, so not just the link, but also referral, so with that in mind I need to keep the books together as one. Otherwise I agree you don't need a bunch of filler articles, only reason to go with 20 is to pepper in 2 links back to my $ite, I try to keep the ratio around 1 link post to 8-12 filler posts.
Your web 2.0-s are meant to be for Google robots, not real people. The articles need to be readable, because the moderators might remove them, not because people will read them. Am I missing something here? I mean, if you are trying to rank for keywords in your web 2.0-s, better do it on your site, it has many more benefits that way!
