I Have Zero IM Knowledge...Watch Me Make $1,000,000

Update!!

Contrary to popular belief, I am not gone nor have I quit working on my ventures! As I said before, I work 48 hours a week. Also my family is now also in the middle of moving houses and we have had some unexpected family emergencies. That is the reason I have not updated. It is about prioritizing my time guys. The very little time I had I wanted to be using to build and work. HOWEVER, my schedule is starting to somewhat come back to normal so I will be keeping my updates more regular. Just wanted to get that out of the way.

Lets talk about what I have got done in that time:

-I have gotten my facebook page up to about 400 page likes for my authority site. This is only with two page boosts and organic likes! I did some split testing and noticed that saturday's are most definitely where your money is most well spent, for all you facebook marketers. This is probably a given but just throwing it out there. I definitely am going to have some larger scale boosts this weekend, but I am have mainly just been focusing on good content and posts.

= I have gotten my theme on my site that I actually got from a thread here on BHW with updated themes on it. It's the "U-design" theme. So far its seeming pretty easy to work with for a noobie like me and easy to play around with. A lot of messing around with it and just kind of taking it one step at a time is working out as far the theme goes.
- I actually decided that for now, VPS is going to have to be played around with a little. I put my site on high quality shared hosting with Bluehost instead. Every tutorial I read, every guide I seen, every video, they mentioned tools and programs that my VPS didnt seem to have. At least out of the box. I know that seems very noobish and lazy, but time managment is very important here to me, I will get the site set up on shared and move it later when I understand VPS a little better.
- I have came up with some crazy keywords for my authority site. It seems there are plenty of golden keywords in this niche that have went unexplored, and they are sitting there for the taking. I'm here to take em.
- i have done a little bit of research as well into my online business, in order to come up with some new marketing strategies, find good places to market and good people to market to, as well as looked a little more into the demand aspect by talking to more people in the industry. Havnt gotten a single negative feedback on it yet! This is a great sign that I am pretty pumped about. Pretty stoked to get started on this project before someone takes it. Lol I am trying to be patient though and learn my way around everything first, so that I can truly have everything mastered before diving into it.

That is what i can think of off the top of my head. Like I said guys, my schedule will be back to normal here soon and I will have regular updates for you. Please don't give up on me guys, and I wont give up on you and these updates.

Questions -

1. What are some of the tools you guys use to analyze competition? I am aware of many but just hoping to get some feedback from yall on your personal experiences with some of them.

2. Is there any downside to using a downloaded theme instead of purchasing the theme?

3. For any of you who have started a legitimate online business, what did you do and what measures did you take to protect it from others stealing the idea or trying to duplicate your stuff?

Suggestion for
entrepreneurs!

- A book called Misfit Economy. For those that don't believe in books, you are missing out on a whole different kind of knowledge. There are many, many entrepreneurs that say they wouldn'.t be where they are today without books.

Good luck man! I love your determination!

Do you have WhatsApp? .. If you do, then send me your contact details and I will add you .. I'm not an expert in anything, admittedly, but I have been around this industry for a looong time so I will answer any questions you have as well as I can. It's always a good idea to have peers to ask questions, and rendezvous with.

To answer your first question: The ones I prefer are Semrush (You can buy monthly accounts on Fiverr) and Ahrefs. There are a few others, but those 2 seem to cover everything you need for competitor analysis.

Know what I love though? When people have had an account for not even two months and try to go around bashing people.
This should make you think why you with a 3 year old account are nowhere yet...

I ask questions on here instead of google, yes.
'Asking' google or the forum search will give you results instantly instead of needing you to wait, check your thread if there is a useful answer, check again etc - not a good way to work effectively. Applicable for specific questions, but not for basic stuff like how to set up a VPS...

The rest is bashing people harsher then they bashed you. If you want to be treated nicer, start being nicer in first place. You abonded the thread for 13 days and history on here shows that most people don't come back (including me on my last Journey). IMO you should have accepted or ignored the heat and just moved on instead of jumping the gun...

Just sayin' we create the environment on BHW and it getting very hostile the last months - don't fuel it :)
Other than that I think your goal is unrealistic at best but, if that's your way to keep you going, I don't mind.

Good luck on your Journey

That's right. The goal of my comments is the fact that your expectations are unrealistic and you are not even able to keep your word on making updates at least once a week and moving forward. Keeping your word and discipline are essential if you want people to get to take you seriously.

You said that you have been lurking for so long now and never took action. It seemed to me that you were back to your old habits which encouraged me to make these harsh comments.

Don't forget that I am not the OP of this thread, I am only a commenter and if you want people to come back and to help, you gotta make your actions bigger than your mouth. Your actions need to be 10x what you've said you would do to eventually reach your goal.

Last point, never ever be in a reactive paradigm. Don't react to people from your point of view and narrowed understanding of the world. You are not the center of the universe. You gotta understand that none of the comments below were to be taken personal. They might be harsh, but they were justified, like it or not. You didn't take your word and didn't prove anyone wrong with your ACTIONS/RESULTS, because at the end ''your success will speak for itself''.

Because I was in University full time while also working damn near full time serving at a steakhouse to pay my way through school while smiling at people for tips so I didn't have to pull tens of thousands in loans, that's why I'm nowhere. Don't like my "bashing"? No one forced you to come to my thread brother.

Goals are only unrealistic to small minds bud, that's okay though, you fuel my fire. Kisses from papa, muah!

I didn't have WhatsApp, but I do now. I'll send you contact details once I actually get in the app when I get off of work today bud.

But yea ahrefs seems to be doing good so far, I'm using the free version though. I'll have to get the paid version to truly see it shine! Ill check out semrush as well man, thanks!

Nice update, I will keep following. And thanks for the book suggestion.

OKAY OKAY OKAY....YOU CAUGHT ME SLIPPIN

So I received some negative comments before for not updating the thread, I then proceeded to bash those negative comments. I was giving a reason and an excuse for everything. I probably deserve negative comments for stopping the thread so soon after starting it. I'm not going to blame it on the hours I was working at my day job or anything like that ANYMORE. The thread was my responsibility and I apologize to all those that the thread could have helped but didn't because I stopped working on it.

HERE'S THE DEAL NOW THOUGH...

Just a few weeks ago, I quit my 5-5 job. I couldn't take it anymore. I respectively turned in my two week notice (never burn bridges that you don't have too) worked my last two weeks there, wished everyone good luck with their future, and rolled out of that bitch with a huge smile on my face. Telling myself that I have had enough, that I'm working on my own dreams now no matter what anyone thinks or says about it. Telling myself that I'm about to put in serious work toward my future, and that nothing and no one is stopping me. I have a good bit saved because of this, and I have also taken this semester off as well. What does this mean? Well, it means I now have money, and I have nothing but time to work on what I need to work on. No Excuses this time. If you catch me making them, call me out, bash me, and refer me back to this post. I will deserve it.

SO, LET ME GET YOU UP TO SPEED ON WHAT I HAVE DONE IN THE LAST FEW WEEKS...

The last few weeks I have been REALLY researching, experimenting, and trying out different things in order to learn the website building process as a whole. I spend 8-10 hours a day in Starbucks to steal their wifi because I can't really focus at my house. Like I said, I pretty much have zero knowledge on this stuff so this learning curve is a pretty serious one for me. Some of you might have grown up around all kinds of tech and web designers or something so it might be hard for you to get this concept of it being difficult, but I was raised in small towns where you either work your butt off at a day job to provide for family, or you farm, or something of this nature. Not to many techies around. HOWEVER, I have made serious progress. I am almost finished building my first site, and when I am done, I will go over everything I used to learn it, and everything I learned along the way, to help those out who still do not have this knowledge. I am doing everything myself for this site for the learning experience and also to save my money for more important things. I have plenty of time, so I don't see a need to have other people write my content, that would probably be half of the quality anyway.

The original Game Plan in my original post is still relatively the same with a few variations, so here is the new one laid out...

  • Micro Niche Sites ( These will be Amazon Sites) ? These will be what ALL of my time goes into for now. I have decided that I am going to take this on one step at a time. Once I have a few of these mastered, I will then be comfortable enough to move on. ?The man who tries to chase 3 rabbits at the same time, ultimately ends up with none. The man who chases one rabbit a day, eats good every night.? - Don't remember (Buddha maybe?)

  • Authority Sites ? I still have the exact same authority site in mind, and still post on its Facebook all of the time. I am getting just organic likes for now (not paying for any ads) and have pretty engaged users. People say that Facebook traffic does not convert very well, and that is fine. I am more looking for awareness of brand right now. When I have the site up and running for this (after I have mastered the niche sites, not paying attention to this for now) then I will expand out into other platforms, such as Instagram, that convert more users into customers.

  • Online Business/ Company ? I also still have the same online business idea in mind, and still believe it is a huge idea that will take off once executed correctly. Through research and listening to entrepreneurs like Gary Vaynerchuk and Andy Frisella ( I recommend you check them out), I know that nothing is more powerful, as far as marketing, than having big influences in the industry, represent your brand. In other words, have people who are really famous or popular in the niche that you are trying to get into, and then getting them to wear what it is you have, or offer the service that you own to their followers, etc. SO, I will be taking a little bit of time out of my days to gather up some emails of these popular folks off of facebook, instagram, etc. and once I have a list of 100 or so compiled, I will take some more time out of another day to email them all. Like I said, my primary focus is on the niche sites for now though, so I will be doing this with either just some of my spare time, or a little bit of my break time everyday when I take a little break to relax and re-focus my mind.

SO, ALL OF THAT SUMMED UP??

  1. I'm fucking sorry for ditching the thread.
  2. I deserve any bashing. I fell off with focus and made excuses for myself.
  3. I'm restarting this bitch. I owe it to myself and to anyone who can learn from it.
  4. Game plan is essentially the same, but I'll be dedicating all of my time to Niche Amazon Sites for now.
  5. I like it when you call me Big Papa
  6. Everyday that I work on this in any way whatsoever (pretty much every damn day), will be another day that you get updated on it.

I'm at starbucks now and will update you all when I am done with my progress for the day and when I am wrapping up. I was about to put something like ?*taking a bow*? but then I remembered this is an apology post for being a fucking quitter, so I think I will save that for when I win and achieve a few more goals and help a bunch more people out. Lol let's all have a good productive day.

I really admire your attitude, it's inspiring to me as someone who shares the same outlook I can relate a lot to what you've said. I believe you can achieve your goal, but like you said it's blood sweat and tears for now. Good luck with it all, I'll definitely be following

Update:

Alright so I worked for about 8 hours today at the coffee shop and came home and did a little bit of reading and went and set my hammock up as a little break to let my mind take a rest. This is important for me personally, as my mind can get drained pretty easily while trying to take in a whole lot of information. Lol for anyone who has this same "mentally drained" feeling after some hours of work, I highly recommend not trying to push yourself through that. I have found that I am WAY more efficient by just taking a break, whether it be at the gym, or outside in my hammock, or whatever. Whatever it is that gives you a refreshed feeling, AND THEN going back to work. I accomplish way more even with that hour break, than I would have before when my mind wasn't feeling it. So, after I took my break I went back to work, and with the exception of a couple food breaks, I have been working ever since.

Here's what I done...

  • I setup a domain for an amazon website that a provider here on BHW is setting up for me. I know sometimes these services can be looked down upon, but I got it at a really good discounted price and the keywords provided seemed pretty damn decent. So, I decided to give it a shot. I used one of my existing hosting accounts that lets me host multiple websites to host the site as well. I actually had to do research on this as I had no idea what AddOn domains were and how to host multiple domains on one hosting account (atleast when my registrar is separate from my hosting service). I will go over this and what I found (for those that need the info) tomorrow.
  • I wrote 4 different review articles for one of my sites that I almost have finished now. Or atleast finished enough to begin doing SEO, I believe. I don't target many keywords in these articles because if I'm not mistaken, they will probably just pick up some long tail keywords naturally and rank for them as long as I write the content with quality, which I do with all of them.
  • I began writing my Home page, or "pillar" article that I am actually targeting keywords with. I saved this for one of the last things to do for the simple reason that I wanted to make sure I knew what I was doing when I began it, so that I could do it right the first time and not have to learn the hard way on some things.
  • I also did some reading and found that a whole bunch of people find real value, and really high conversions, or atleast a higher CTR, through comparison tables. So I downloaded the free plugin "TablePress" I believe it is called, and have began working on my table. I also had to take some time with this, as it is not as easy at it looks. Lol atleast not yet. But really guys, all you have to do is go through the learning curve once, and after that you will be able to do them easier and easier everytime. So after this first site is up and has everything that I need to drive conversions, hopefully I will be able to spit out websites a whole lot quicker than I am now.

That's pretty much it, even though it seems like not a lot to work for so many hours. Like I said though, it is just the learning curve and all of the research for now that is eating up most of my time. That is okay to me though as I know I am doing everything right. Some people might have put out their first site a whole lot faster than me, but I bet they had to go back and fix a whole bunch of stuff too. So in the end, it eats up just as much time. After my first few sites, I believe it will be a lot easier to build them and I will be able to do it with much more speed. That is what I am hoping anyway. Lol we shall see, as I still have plenty to build (and learn) and plan on having quite an empire.

Like I said, I will go a little more into detail about what I learned and researched tomorrow, when I can actually keep my eyes open.

Anyone reading this early morning in your country, have a productive day. Productive days leave you feeling ten times better, as you all know. And going to sleep feeling ten times better and with a smile on your face, is rare as diamond in this day and age. So go make that happen for yourself.

Thanks for the support and words of encouragement brother, means a lot. Definitely keep following along and hopefully I can help and inspire even more along the way. We'll all do it together.

Keep going bro I need to start heading to Starbucks too, way too many distractions in my house.

Once you start those dollar signs start rolling in your gonna be hooked!
