How to analyse domain metrics

Now I have an idea of what I need to look.

Since I registered example 3, Im going to share the domain: campmilf.com
I checked the backlinks on semrush in a free account so I only have access to 5, and in five I have found this two:

http://www.amsterdamsexxx.com [SPAM?]
http://cams.darknesta.com [MALWARE WARNING]

So probably this domain was a bad choice.
The only good thing is the domain name maybe...

You're more than welcome. I just checked that domain on Majestic and unfortunately all the links are from XXX sites, confirming my previous comments. The name is also not that good since "milf" is a well-known word that refers to older women in those circles.

Btw, when you look for CF/TF ratio you guide through CF/TF URL, Sub domain or Root domain?
Or only the one with higher values?

I generally look at the highest one (which is usually the www subdomain); it seems to be the logical thing since the one with the highest TF/CF values usually ends up being the one with the most backlinks, hence giving the healthiest possible idea about the links.

But don't get hung up too much on those numbers and ratios; what matters most is the past of the site, then the location/existence of the links. If the site has links from good (and especially relevant) sites, the numbers may be stretched, if you know what I mean.

The www version you highlighted is the subdomain mate.

The root is: domain.com
subdomain: www.domain.com (or blog.domain.com or any other prefix). I say www because it's by far the most common subdomain used throughout the web.

Usually, when you check a domain, and if the metrics www version are better than without, you install the PBN site on the www subdomain and 301 the http:// version to it (and also any other page on the site that has decent link juice). If the http:// version is better, you just do the opposite (install on http:// and then redirect the http://www to http://).

Before checking the history and backlinks, I look at the TF, CF/TF ratio and the number of linking domains. If these match my criteria, then I start to further analyse the site.

Frankly, I don't give much of a damn about Moz's metrics since they are a lot easier to manipulate imo. I mean, look at any site that was spammed to death by Japanese/Chinese SEOs, and they'll all have 40+ DA. Plus, MOZ really sucks at finding backlinks. They find 1 or 2 backlinks where Majestic and Ahrefs find hundreds. So, if a site has something like TF 20 CF 22 and DA 7, I would go for it as long as the rest checks out.

The only exception in which I do care about MOZ metrics is when I see DA/PA 1, which may very well point to something fishy going on and warrants further investigation.

My minimum requirements are as follows mate:

- At least 10 referring domains
- Root TF at least 10
- Highest TF >15 (which usually will be the www subdomain like I said)
- CF/TF ratio <1.5 (though this can be stretched if the linking domains are OK/authority-type sites and the links are contextual and not sidebar/comment links, etc.)

Exactly. All metrics are only mere signs if you ought look at the domain metrics or it's a waste of time.

If you ask for my personal preferences, I always liked TF the most. However with the latest updates, it dropped for lot of domains and now we have a lot of greatest domains with TF only say 14-17, which would easily be 20-25 couple months ago.

DA is very unreliable and non resistant to spam.

Also I like Ahrefs Domain Rank a lot lately. Very accurate in most cases.

What is DR in domain authority? Never heard this word before.

Domain Rank is Ahrefs way of calculating Domain Authority(DA) just like Moz.
If you batch analyse lots of domains you will always find the domain with higher domain rank on Ahrefs will have a higher DA on Moz.
