How to analyse domain metrics

Hello guys,

I am trying to found some good expired domains.
Can someone please help me how to found the best seo metrics?

For example, I normally look for domains that have:
>40 page authority
>15 TF
>4,00 MZ
>10 referring domains
>1k backlinks
<4 Spam Score

What else should I looking for?
How about CF, whats the best value for this?

CF does not matter much but if its really low then the links might be weak.

Only check for PA and DA from moz, everything else is kinda useless.

I like at least 15 DA or the domain is most likely weak but prefer 20+ DA.

20+ PA is fine since not all the links will point to the homepage so this will be lower sometimes.

If the domain has these metrics I manually check it.

I'm trying to build a PBN, so I really need good domains.

I have a list with lots of >30 PA but most of them are .edu, .gov.au, .is, .cn, .us, .co.uk
This domains are hard to register right? Should I look only at .com, .net, .org and .info?

There is lots of people saying that MZ and TF is also good. Why do you ignore these metrics?

How do you manually check domains? What do you do?

DA PA and CF TF can be easily manipulated,
the best way to check domain metric is, check manually the link profile, if good than use it for PBN or moneysite

Take a look at the anchor profiles and backlinks - first one is to make sure they aren't spammed (although you should check archive.org as well just to be sure), 2nd to see if there are any "juicy" links that your money site will benefit from.

This sounds pretty stupid. So you want only sitewide backlinks? 100 links from every backlinking site?

Anyway, you should look at the backlinks, not at the metrics.

My ratio for TF/CF is .66 because It looks spammy when the CF is higher than TF. Also, verify each of your domain's backlink profile. Domains with natural have high percentage of URL and brand anchor text then check your domains using wayback machine. Watch out for domains that turned into something completely different like for example it was turned into Japanese blog network. You have to avoid these kind of domains.

What do you think about expired domains which were redirected to other non-spammy similar domains? Lets say the old domain holder wanted to change to a better sounding domain name and redirected the old one via 301. Shall i still take it for pbn, if it has good metrics and back link profile?

How to calculate TF/CF ratio?

I have read this:

Possibly an over the top example but it proves the point! Alternet.org is a large online magazine with a huge online community, and as you can see, has a Trust Flow of 68 and Citation Flow of 54.

Trust Flow / Citation Flow = Trust Ratio aka 68 / 54 = 1.259

With a trust ratio of 1.259, you know that this site has links from trustworthy sources and is a good site to outreach to for your client.

From this you can see the Trust Flow is considerably lower than the Citation Flow. Using the same calculation you can see the difference in the trust ratio.

7 / 35 = 0.2
The trust ratio here is well below 1 and shows that this site has gained its link profile using "spammy" techniques.
I discovered this site by looking at the backlinks of a heavily penalised site. It shows that having a lot of links from sites like these will eventually cause issues.

So If I found a domain with:
TF: 34
CF: 62

Is Trust Flow / Citation Flow = Trust Ratio aka 34 / 62 = 0.548
In this example, is 0.548 and is a bad domain right?


Or is the opposite?
CF / TF = 62 / 34 = 1.823

Majestic found analyzing the backlink profiles of the Majestic Million (top 1 million domains they track), the top 25% of domains had CF/TF ratios near 1.09. An average site had a CF/TF a ratio near 2.89. But here's the important part: spammy domains (outliers on their bell curve) had ratios between 6.58 and 9.87!

The closer this value is to zero, the better the URL is!
While analyzing domains, our process to include domains for our own lists of expired authority domains relies on the CF / TF ratio of the respective domain to make sure it's near 1.8. If it's anywhere above it, we don't use or list the domain.

I 2nd this. A thoughtful (experienced) answer with detailed explanation of the above post would help a lot of people here (including me) who are trying to solve the "metrics puzzle" of expired domains. I want to start creating PBNs and the queries like above always hold me back as I get confused with the "information overload" while fetching domain metrics.

Hi mate,

I?ll try to explain my way of doing things; hope other people will also chime in to give all who ask this an even better idea.

Please keep in mind that all my comments about these domains are based solely on the numbers visible on the screenshots (since I cannot see the actual domains/backlinks).

Domain 1:

I wouldn?t think this was a good domain simply as there are too many backlinks from very few domains (like about 3 thousand from 36-57 domains. That will probably mean that they are sitewide links like footer or sidebar links. Plus, experience tells me that too many backlinks are usually a sign of past spam).

Domain 2:

This actually looks to be the best of the lot - at least on paper. The subdomain has OK metrics (17 TF, 26 CF, 19 links from 10 root domains). If the links check out after close inspection (meaning you actually see that: 1) they are still there; 2) they are placed on good/acceptable sites; and 3) no obvious sign of spam (like adult or counterfeit clothing anchors, etc), then this could be an acceptable domain.

Domain 3:

Same as Domain 1. Too many backlinks from very few (relatively of course) domains.

Domain 4:

Looks weak on paper, may be somewhat acceptable if those few links come from really strong sites (but I doubt that since the TF is quite low in all 3 instances).

Domain 5:

Same as Domains 1 and 3.

Like I said, this all is based on the numbers I see here. You of course would need to do the checks I mentioned above plus look at the site?s history on Screenshots.com and Archive.org. Just a little tip, I first check Screenshots.com as it loads much faster than Archive.org and helps me weed out most obviously spammed sites very quickly. If the site looks OK there, I then check Archive.org and Majestic.
