I'm absolutely sick of seeing so many threads of people hallucinating about Instagram changing it's algorithm and what not.
Here's to clear it up.

Although it is true that Instagram will be changing our feeds very soon, Instagram has not the changed feed algorithm yet. It won't be changing for a couple months at the very least.
If you find people saying they are seeing changed feeds they are LYING! Ask them for screenshots, you will know.

The "log out button" and "add account button" has disappeared from Instagram if you are using the latest update on iOS. It is a bug and Instagram will be fixing it very soon for as they have tweeted regarding this. This has only been observed by iOS users. So for the time being I'd advice you be patient and use safari to log in and out of multiple accounts.

The only big update that has come this week is the change in the length of videos you can upload which has been increased from 15 seconds to 60 seconds.

Summing it up, if you think you are screwed over IG changing it's algo, it's because you haven't been putting good quality content out their. In the Instagram game, CONTENT IS KING.

One more thing, just because the feeds are changing, doesn't mean you won't be allowed to follow/unfollow people or like their photos. And as of now Instagram hasn't announced anything about separating pages from general accounts. So as long as that doesn't happen, YOU ARE SAFE!

NOW QUIT CRYING!

I agree, stop the disinformation.

Check Instagram's Twitter and Blog if you'd like to have reliable news concerning the future updates and the feed.

Best Regards,
Jaymien.

60 seconds vids now.. Damn they are setting it up for desktop marketers.
How do you guys see instagram in 365 days?

Instagram has always been a mobile app, though recently they added the explore feature onto browsers, so yes they might transition into desktop in the next year. Even then, the app will be a sizeable amount of their traffic.

They are definitely doing testing. Yesterday I was looking through my feed and one of my own pics showed up. That's not normal. Only the people you follow and Instagram ads shows up in your feed. Not your own pics that you have posted.

okay, you guys are definitely all on acids.

when you post a picture, your own photo shows up in your feed.

they are doing testings all the time, haven't you notice that yet? every update there is something new, lol.

The shit is going to be ever changing just like facebook and craigslist.

Definitely not true! You can see your own photos in your feed.

I can't tell yet whether I am going to be happy about the changes soon.

Those mentioning them trying to desktop it up, I can't see it. While they might have a desktop transition in a sense that desktop and app Instagram look the same, mobile app will remain king. If Facebook, which was initially a desktop-based website now receives a lot more traffic and sees a lot more usage via mobile, I can't see they trying to force Instagram into desktop.

And the one saying that your own photo doesn't show in your own feed, that is a lie. It has ALWAYS shown!

So many people are hallucinating since the news broke up about the algo changes... Nothing has changed except the video views and now video length... (and the log out thing has already been fixed). Something that also changed, they reverted the 4 likes thing (back to 10 likes before starting showing likes in numbers -- showing the names of the likers in feed) and now the posted xx weeks ago changed as well, they started showing real dates for post older than 1 week.

Is that right? I've never ever seen my own photo on my own feed..

Why would they be lying? Have you never heard of companies testing upcoming features on selected users while leaving the user experience intact for others? The change is coming, i'm not sure where do you get the "couple of months" time frame.

Same shit happened not too long ago on Twitter. Info was leaked that they will change their chronological feed to something similar to what ig's will be changed. Answering to the public outcry (#ripTwitter) on the next day their CEO explained in a tweet (the usual "We're listening..." BS), that they never said that they will change the feed RIGHT AWAY. Does this sound familiar? Because practically ig did almost the exact same thing, answering to their user's fears, they posted a tweet explaining themselves. In Twitter's case the next thing you know, that the feed has been changed in practically 2 weeks time after their CEO's tweet, although that change is opt-in, at least for now.

Regarding to the iOS bug: How can you fuck up an update so badly, that an already existent, important, basic feature - such as the ability to log out - disappears all together? And this is just one thing, devs fuck up sometimes, it happens, but how come that none of their staff noticed this before they released the update to the public? lol

Ok maybe I was wrong about your own photos appearing in your feed. I have never noticed it before. To whoever said I was lying, there is a difference between being wrong and lying.

It should be common sense to always double check Instagram blog and twitter before posting threads addressing new changes.

Maybe try going to the actual instagram blog and maybe, just maybe try reading it for once.
