Thailand :)

Advice before moving somewhere?

1. Before moving anywhere, take a 2-4 days vacation out there to see how everything turns out. Otherwise, you will never know.

2. You can ask everybody (Like how you did here) however you still would like to know for yourself. Some people may enjoy a place, well while others may not.

3. Google. Everything is basically out in the blue, you can find a lot of information anywhere.

On a different note, Thailand sounds quite the relaxing vacation and without having to spend a lot is a advantage if you're trying to become wealthy.

There are some stunning places to live and work out there; https://www.facebook.com/kohspace/?fref=nf

If you are looking for a small, cheap place, with lots of foreigners and great beach you should consider this places:

Hua Hin - Nice, small town close to Bangkok (200 km), beautiful, large, clean beach. Mostly Scandinavian people live there.

Ao Nang - 140km south of Phuket, only 17km from Krabi (city with airport, hospital and everything you need), large beautiful beach. Stunning nature there!!!

Koh Samui - island, most expensive from this options.

Phuket and Pattaya are good for living, with lots of foreigners everywhere, but Phuket is expensive and crowdy and Pattaya's dont have nice beaches. If you don't want to swim go to Pattaya, because its easiest for newcomers to get used to a new lifestyle there.

The best thing about Thailand is that you do not have to immediately rent or buy an apartment. You can stay on cheap in guest houses (they are everywhere) and travel across Thailand until you find where is the best place for you to stay. Just don't bring lot of luggage cause you don't really need much clothes there :)

Thailand is very nice experience just please, please, please don't do drugs there! No weed! Forget about it. Jails in Thailand are awful (50 men in one small room).

If you don't want it to be filled with tourists and near water I would suggest Krabi (crab town)... im dreaming of moving there when I get things rolling.
No one grabs you and want you to buy shit, they leave you alone and let you window shop in peace.
They got great food markets (I mean fuck it's good) and night markets aswell.
Western food if you miss home, like kfc, dunkin donuts, a scandinavian place where you can get western food too. No burger joints what I can remember.
Shopping malls with great ac, a cinema, 2 other shopping malls nearby, airport, hospitals, english speaking school.
Great nature and a short ride to get to the beach.
I'd rather stay a couple of miles inland to be on the safe from tsunamis, (call me paranoid).
Great nature, and alot of things to see and do.

Sounds great :D How much/month for the hotel/suite? From what I see on booking.com the poor ones are around $20 night (so $600 per month, 2 persons) and are looking really really bad

the Ao Nang, Krabi Area sounds like what you are looking for. not a super party area, less tourist than Phuket.

You're probably not going want to live in a hotel. It will be more expensive. Go for a monthly serviced apartment. you can get a decent place for 12,000 - 20,000 THB down there. The beach there is beautiful.

Depending on the area, most people are educated here. you won't have to worry about your GF getting raped or anything like that.

I'm not to sure about Weed, as i don't smoke, but just the general presence seems to be lower in my opinion. I'm comparing to south florida.

with $1000 US, you'll be living a pretty decent life here. the average Thai Salary is like 12,000THB a month and $1000 USD is 36,000THB

I just hope TH is not like MY...a guy from my country got the death penalty because of drugs on MY :(

Thailand more straight in my compare too my when it come to drug.

Weed, both die.
Kratom, die in th not MY . in my kratom is under poison not drug.

I've just returned from Krabi few days ago, you can get a single A/C room from $100/month around Krabi Town.

Weed is really easy to get there, though local told me to be more careful in Ao Nang as there are many police there.

You can try cambodia actually, its Thai Neighbour countr, the internet good and cheap, not to much lady bos like thailand, and not to much people try to rip your money, and they spoke english well, police is same with Thai, and off course weed for foreigner was ok :)

Very informative Topic. Do you guys have any suggestion for staying in one of those villas in Pucket for a week or so (planing to stay there 14-16 ppl.)

In Thailand police is friendly with locals only. There are a lot of schools and hospitals and you need fluent Thai to use it.

Argeed, all are good But the police is not friendly enough for the Foreigner.
If you are good, they must be good for you.

nice place to come from not a nice place to goto, corrupt, dont go there unless your loaded, money talks out there...

i think you ment 900 dollars not 9000 usd i been to thailand a few times myself mostly pattaya and its nice friendly cheap and never had a problem
