Do you think its rude when people ask how much you make?

Is so why? Was just having a discussion about this with my friend, personally I dont mind. But him, he really wants to keep it personal (he doesnt even tell his girlfriend or mum).

I don't tell anyone about how much I make. I get teased enough just by buying things with cold hard cash. It's only rude when people are almost getting angry when I refuse to tell them lol

I think transparency and honesty is good. I don't see any reason why you should hide income or estates in a society.
It would be better if we would actually know how much everybody earns, so we could distribute it fairer. Because some people earn nothing from an important activity they do and some earning a fortune although they don't contribute to society at all.

If you want to be motivated from someone, you dont really need to know how much he makes. Thats my point. I dont share what I make with anyone other than my family.

that's an out of line concept in my view. If women get offended when you ask them how old they are, they probably need a rod too because they're fishing for compliments. Personally, I wouldn't be bothered if someone asked me how much I make. Life has taught me that money makes fake friends and that nobody really cares about you apart from those that have been with you since before you had anything.

It depends who asks. I find it very offending if I guy I hardly know asks. I don't mind if a friend does. In both cases though, the result is the same: always pretend to be just below average - no need to create passive enemies.

I don't think it's appropriate to ask someone how much they make no matter what profession they're in. But when it comes to people asking me how much I make, given that I'm an internet marketer and there's no real stats on salaries and things like that, I can kind of understand why people ask. It's almost always an innocent question whenever I'm asked it. The exception being those one or two jealous fuckers who want to see if their regular job pays them more than you make so they can clown on digital jobs.

I usually turn it around and ask them how much they make.

They either get offended and realise what they just asked, or they tell me and I got "oh right, interesting" like I just judged them then change subject when they ask me to share that information.
