3k for the start isnt that bad? And remember, when the 10 days are over you get another 3, maybe this time evern 5k follower
I had my first 10k after a month buddy, some here manage to do that in 5 days, but invest a lot in s4s etc. ...

I guess you're right, I'm just being a bit impatient haha. I just want to keep gaining followers but these ten days will prevent that. I realised that in these ten days I could create a new account and build it up, whilst the main is unfollowing which is what I'm going to do now I think!

One of my aged accounts likes 1150-1250 pics daily with absolutely no issues.

I upped it with another account to 2600 likes daily for two consecutive days. I got hit with a warning and cooled off. Then I lowered it near 1850-2200 for 23 days in a row and it was fine.

Now testing out follow/unfollow on that account. following at 400-500 daily.

My findings are pretty close to yours.
I have done it manually for likes as well, got 2 observations for everyone.

Received a temporarily block upon hitting 700~750 likes spending about 30minutes for first attempt.
Taking in consideration of above, paced myself much slower for second attempt, received another temporarily block upon hitting 2400~2500 likes spending about 5 hours in total.

Unblocked randomly after 3~15 hours.

I found out that it's good for starters to just like photos and follow 10 per hour for 100 max or so, It's pretty normal that you will first like pictures then follow right?

Everything depends on everything else. I agree, i have an old account where i follow 100 people in 30 mins/hour . nothing happened to my account till now.

I suggest reading the instagram API limits and doing some simple math. There is no reason to keep pushing the boundary based on someones elses account. Lot of factors at play.
