This is probably not unlisted method. It's more likely someone capitalizing on very low lying fruit with HR views. When you see videos ranking with such low volume of hits it generally indicates that very few people are in the niche, and it was wide open for the taking.
Better to learn the ropes, because claiming something like this is UNLISTED method really shows a lack of understanding of youtube. If this was an actual implementation of the unlisted method - the view count would have been much higher. Last week I watched a guy go from nowhere to ranking in a highly competitive weight loss term with ONLY HR views - 80K. That was the unlisted method, and I agree with others that it is completely hit or miss in 2016.
Does it work? Sure. How often? Not that friggin' often, so if you don't want to be real about youtube and want to keep trying to use 2-3 year old strategies - you better post quite a few videos and have a realistically affordable way to generate those HR views.
