301 Expired Domain Redirection

I have an expired domain in my niche and the domain has some letters matching mine own, which is kind of an EMD.

This expired domain has a good link profile, DA and PA and I plan to 301 it to my money-site. Then build backlinks on this expired site using the keywords of my money-site as anchor. However, before applying this, I must ask opinions.

Does this help in SEO? Will building backlinks to this expired domain help my money site to rank?

It is a recently dropped domain, a month at the most. And some keywords match mine.

Topical and anchor difference between domain that you want to redirect and the target page/domain is of a crucial importance when doing redirect. Great domain with juicy links does not equals improved ranking for your desired keywords once you redirect domain to your desired location.

Even if the anchor difference is such that the expired domain has keyword 'quote' and mine is 'cheesy quotes' specifically? Will it be of crucial importance, still?

If the domain is still indexed then you could benefit from the traffic it is currently receiving, if it is not indexed the backlinks may come back online and you could see an increase in SERPs as a result.

Unless the domain is a very high profile one it is likely that you will see a mild increase in SERPs, it is unlikely you would see anything negative happen unless you start 301ing tons of domains at your money site.

Try, you can always turn off redirection.
