I have a competitor that has been spamming his website with backlinks trying to overtake me.

He has been ordering homepage PBN backlinks with 40 DR consistently for the past month. According to Ahrefs there is about 100 backlinks popping up every 3-4 days.

The way i see it i have two options

1) Report him to google for link spam (WILL THEY ACTUALLY CHECK AND DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT?)

or

2) Fight fire with fire and order backlins of my own but this places my website in jerperdy when new algoritham comes out.

What do you guys suggest i do ... anybody reported their competitor for backlink spam and actually have google reply or do something about it ?

Wow don't be a faggot OP, don't report because he's doing his thing and you're worried. Just do it better or go back to working in a factory from 7am to 4pm.

So my competitor is using black hat services to out rank me and i am just suppose to sit there and let him over take me ? Its not that hes doing it better its that hes using black hat tactics and in turn forcuing me to do the same if i want to stay on top which puts my business at risk. How do you not see the problem here?

Its not like i am just reporting it for shits and giggles either i sit by and watch and lose my business or i follow his direction and risk getting penalized in a few months along with him.

THe way i see it there is no winning here other then report and hope he gets punished for USING BLACK HAT...

People here are butthurt when you mention the word "report", me included, but it's the right thing to do so that he doesn't go above you, only if you're not into that and you're completely white hat. Other wise prepare your ass because he is going to report you back if you do so.

They are doing better because you dont know what the fuck you are doing. This is a blackhat forum and you are complaining about a competitor using blackhat services. Why don't you go and learn about how to do SEO instead of crying like a baby. I think you are confusing winning with whining because all your are doing is whining.

Other than few no go niches, almost all the niches can be dominated through carefully executed seo which includes link building.(You may like to put your white hat and suggest doing link gaining) but in all reality, more often than not, its inability to rank that usually forces people to whinge.

If he gets 40 DR links every whatever days and his site survives google wrath, that only means he has got his link velocity, diversity and his site authority spot on. This can only be done through planning!!! call it black, white or grey, however you like..

And remember karma is a b***h.

Hi,
If you report any site then google will consider it seriously and investigates reported instances....

To survive in the SERP you not only need backlinks.
But organic traffic with the keywords in the content, and branding brand your web site.

i dont recommend doing that but with that numbers of links being added in that short period of time he will be penalized in few weeks.

Scorpion bring some sting in your SEO to be overcome your competition.

Sorry OP but dont be a bitch seriously. Everyone is allowed to do what he likes and that you want to report and blame another competitor just because he uses this forum and tactics .... I dont know what to say other then you are in the wrong forum buddy :)

Better stay out of BHW if you are acting like this against other users.

If you can't beat your competitor, snitch them right?

No one, including you, is 100% white hat. The question is, is he using banned techniques that will make you punished if you use them also or he is doing planed SEO campaign???
If he is using banned techniques than he will be punished by Google eventually and there is no need to report him.
And if you report him most probably they will check you too.

So you are in dilema report or risk. Good news for you - there have 3th variant. Create new website (maybe on expired domain to pass the age) and create links like your competitor do.

If this competitor get better SERP than you and you report, than he will know who do this. Than will blast your site with backlinks and will report you too.

BTW I don't think the reporting will have effect, becasue the SPAM report is about the content as I know.

copy him if you are worried, dont be a shit for reporting your competitors, play fair , or atleast the OP topic should be not here in BHW , this is BLACK HAT FORUMS

If we all start reporting each other to Google then non of us will ever get anywhere. Keep your Karma clean and just up your SEO game.

Report him to FBI, they will take care of it. Don't be a dick.

Seriously ? Why report him ? He will end getting site penalized sooner or later if he is doing as much as you say he is.. If you can't compete with him that is your loss.. but seriously .. reporting to google.. might get a manual review but even that is not likely.

1. Reporting won't do shit, unless you are dealing in HUGE competition niches, where there are manual reviewers filtering the results.
2. There is NO whitehat in SEO - if you were tricked to believing that if you just write articles, let them sit there and magically rank, well bad news... you will never rank! You need backlinks and your competitors are doing a pretty good job at that.
3. After you realize point #2, you will see that the best option is not to be a dickhead (by reporting your competitors), but instead analyze & learn from them: see what kind of backlinks they have, replicate what you can, start building your own PBN, build more links and rank.
4. Competition is part of the game in any business, you won't get far by reporting your competitors, but by doing better than them.
