Hi,
Doorway pages are web pages that are created for spam indexing. This is for spamming the index of a search engine by inserting results for particular phrases with the purpose of sending visitors to a different page. You can get the better information from the google too.

@OP at the time of writing iu still make use and money with doorway pages, i use a plugin called serp shaker and a cloaker plugin, right now i am making a killing with a dentist CPA and DOORWAYPAGES!!!!! You know those pages where scaryhat n00bs will tell you that google doesn't rank them. Sure my shit could get banned eventually but for now i am banking with this site since Jun.
This is how i do it.
I build doorwaypages for local lead pages or product pages (TIP: don't use any redirects with amazon, they don't really like that), here is how i set it up my average BH site(stand for blackhat)
I have a list of longtail keywords often it is product +city + state, this could be any product, it doesn't have to be a a local business, you can make a killing with local keywords and CPA, amazon or affiliate programs.
Then i write a post of about 2000/2500 words and i spin that manually so the output is readable, it doesn't have to be great or anything just readable, nobody is going to read it anyway (at least not with my method)
In the content i add images and videos, i spin the images and videos so it looks like different images and videos, if that makes any sense, like {http://video-url1.com|http://video-url2.com|http://video-url3.com|http://video-url4.com} and for images {http://imageurl1.com|http://imageurl2.com|http://imageurl3.com|http://imageurl4.com}
Next i add my keywords in the content (and of course in the image tags and stuff), on average i ad my keyword once every 200/250 words, some scaryhats will say that this is way to much, fuck them, they don't know shit.
I also add 6 tags, and yes i let Google index them too, i don't give a fuck about dup content, as i know out of experience (and what some guru told me) that these tags van bring in heaps of extra traffic especially when you're longtailing.
When that is all done i let serp shaker run and it will create the website, on average i will build sites between 500 and 5000 pages, all doorway pages.
When the site is done i run it through Google webmaster tools, fetch a view categories and delete the website from GWT when these categories are indexed.
Now what i do is setup WPcloaker to redirect the traffic anywere i want, and that is how i still make money with my lead generation business, with my amazon business, with my ticket business and with my CPA business (well the last one is more a hobby then a business but you get the point) If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask.
TIP: if you really want to make a bank, spend some money on a strong domain, a good TF 25 with a legit backlink profile can do wonders for your ranking, but even a TF 15 will give you the boost you need
And for you n00bs, please go back to the warrior forum, or stay in the whitehat section, you have no business spewing your uninformed opinion in the blackhat section, leave that to the people who actually know something

Agree with everything you said, as I'm seeing really good results using a similar approach. However, my success has all been with fresh domains. I saw another thread that you wrote a while back with similar advice about getting a strong domain and bought a handful to try it out. So far, I haven't made it work - the domains always get deindexed before they can start bringing in meaningful search traffic. Do you have any advice for stuff I could try to prevent this from happening?

Are you sure that your domains were clean, i mean that they weren't used for spamming.
Have you use any type of promotion
Are you using a redirect and if so what kind?

Yes, the domains got deindexed in about a week. My new domains last from between a few weeks to a few months, generally.
I checked carefully to make sure they were clean. It's possible that a couple were not (I've mistakenly bought a few spammed domains in the past) but the majority were clean.
Promotion - used an indexer and built some links to the category pages. Same approach I take with new sites.
No redirect.

Quick questions:
1. Assume you're ranking those kwds just because they're all longtails? Or are you getting some authority links to the home or category pages to let the juice flow down too? (I get a few links myself).
2. Do you interlink pages at all within categories for a silo effect? (I do most of the time. Not sure if it's helping or not to be honest).
3. What kind of time frame are you seeing for Google to index and rank a site after fetching categories? I assume that any expired domains you use get indexed much quicker but I'm seeing delays with both new domains and expired ones. Even those with STRONG metrics.
Just curious about your feedback on those.

Something isn't right, cus i do basically the same things and i never get deindexed, i do have (in some cases) that overtime traffic is falling back, what kind of content are you using, i assume you do spun content, how much words do you use and do you ad images and videos?

But it is great for local keywords and product keywords And yes i do use backlinks to category pages, i use 2 tiered web 2.0 links 2) Sometimes is do (serp shaker has that option) but like you have never notice any improvement in results to be honest.
3) I see the first traffic between 2 and 4 weeks, if i don't see any traffic within 4 weeks at all i consider it a dude and move on (and yest that well happen sometimes, even with fresh domains)

I don't like the overlay plugin as it is slowing down your site, often you can see the original site before the overlay is loaded that is why i advice WPcloaker The owner of the plugin is a member here, (i am not affiliate with it just a happy user) it is much faster, your visitors will have no idea that they have been redirected.
You can use the overlay of course, but i would upgrade to a decent redirect script of plugin as soon as possible.

Hahaha, Dave got it spot on. If a n00b wants to test this, create two different sites. Use Dave's approach with one and your own with the other. Come back in 3 months with results and see which is better.

Agreed with you that something isn't right, and agree that it's very likely the content. There's been a big wave of deindexing for these style of sites over the past few months, and I think most people trying to figure out why are focusing on the wrong things.
I'm using spun content, though the posts for different cities are not so unique (i.e. dentist in city x is very similar to dentist in city y). I use images and videos sometimes, sometimes not. When I do, it's always the same image / video across the entire website. Based on what you wrote, it sounds like your posts are a lot more unique than mine, so I'll test out using heavily spun content to create lots of variation between different cities. Right now, SS takes forever to build with any amount of spun content, but it sounds like version 2.0 solves this problem
A couple of other questions from your original post:
1. Have you found that limiting yourself to 6 tags works better than higher amounts?
2. Do you ever build more than 5000 page/post sites?
