The Shopify + Facebook Method FAQ - All Questions Here Please.

Star wars is a good niche, but the movie is about to drop, I can only imagine what one would pay in ads for that... It must be a nightmare.

Man I keep telling you, think outside the box.. No one is going to throw a niche at you.

What are you into? What are your hobbies? Expand from there. I know it sounds cheesey, and we've heard it a billion times, but try a niche you are passionate about yourself. But just as important as niche is product selection. Remember, you are targeting impulse buyers. Not people who have the time to research products and prices, you need something that makes them buy it right when they see it.

And again those are all trademarked items from star wars.... Or any other movie. aren't you guys afraid to get caught?

@franklin

What's the worst that can happen acttually? Shopify just closes your account and shop for selling trademarked items or ..? Because everything is hosted on de servers of Shopify (images, tenplates etc). It seems very easy to me to just use fake personal information in the Shopify settings. The only thing that links you is your paypal account.

i see so many people selling those trademarked jewelry and make money with it. Can someone please explain this to me? Just small fish in a big ocean so big companies do not bother going after them?

Just by you saying star wars, I can already tell it won't sell, but you never know. How many days have you tested the item? If it hasn't been at least 2 days with over 5000 reached, you don't have a large enough sample size.

Use your brain. Don't you maybe, JUST MAYBE think that there are TONS of advertisements trying to sell Star Wars related items right now? Why would you ever decide that would be a good idea? I give up man. I really do.

I have tested for 2 days, but not reached 5000, I have to check but I think about 2000 reached. But also if there is no order from 2000, then it does not really look as with 3000 more there would come a lot of orders. Also if you pay maybe $0.02 per click which is really know, it would need $100 to reach 5000 people. And I am not really willing to spend $100 because I already spent $60 with almost no success. Honestly, I also do not see a tons of star wars ads, in fact I have not seen a single one. The only thing I really see day and night is this F&F necklace.

Again, also on eBay there are tons of listings for my item, but every seller makes sales, and not only the cheapest sellers.

Hmm well I really do not know but I do not pay really much, in fact I pay 0.05 per post engagement, so almost nothing. And my audience is about 500.000 people.

Something that makes them buy when they see it, well this is really hard to find. Also everyone is different. E.g. if I would see my star wars product, I would buy it. I sell it for free + 9.99 shipping, and you also do not find it on ebay below 9.99 so my price is definitely good. Also if I would not be a star wars fan, I would buy it too, because I know friends that are fans and could give it to them for Christmas.

Also in e.g. star wars niche, if you research on ebay, also it is estimated that billions of $ sales will be made with merchandise, not all the products do that well. My product does extremely well. But I found e.g. another one I also would buy, but on ebay there are hardly any sales. Quite strange.

I do not think anything will happen. These items are sold everywhere and not really anything happens, not even the platform where they are selling on removes them. About shopify I do know what happens if they would get a dmca complaint, I use woocommerce. Also I think almost anyone has fake information put on their shop.
Also on aliexpress there are thousands of orders for those products, and someone said in China it won't be illegal. Well, it is, because aliexpress is not only selling in China, most of their products are exported. Into countries where these products are copyright infringements. So if nothing happens to these big sellers what should happen to your little website with maybe 1 order a day.

Yes very true Anatho.

I was very tempted to sell those as well but not sure how that works in the long term. I mean you are going to try to sell your Zelda audience another game via CPA offers or an affiliate Zelda tshirt? Not a lot of possibilities, no?

Another thing you can try is finding a niche and then a sub niche within that niche. Not an easy task to do I know. E.g. When people hear the word "pets" they think about dogs and cats but you can go a bit more extreme like spiders, snakes, piranha etc.

When I look at the private facebook groups I see people spending like 5K on ads to get 17K profit on that F&F necklace. So yes it seems to work but it involves a lot of money in those niches I think.

You tried with custom audiences with more than 10 interests? And then a lookalike audience?

Another tip I can give you is NOT to go for products on aliexpress the way everyone promotes it. So search term > free shipping > high rated > orders. Yes those are good products but because they have so many orders there's a great chance someone using this technique is already promoting this product on Facebook. Instead look at the seller of the product and look at his other products because he is clearly a great seller with quick delivery times.

@franklin in the youtube video where you show us the 0.01 technique, which program you are using for your audiences? Because that is a huge factor! I am struggling with that because my audiences need to be even more specific I guess.

This line right here is why you should just stop trying this method. Please do, before you waste more of your time and money. You clearly have no experience with how FB ads work. You should read and learn more before attempting, it would really benefit you. Time and time again you either claim things that are entirely incorrect or make assumptions based on lack of experience. Please, just please save your money instead of encouraging others from trying this.

I f I have no experience how facebook ads work, then why do I pay only $0.05 per click? Then why I have PE CR 40%+? It is not about creating an ad, it is about this method is only working for a very few people. It works for you, so you are lucky. For me it does not work at all. But it has has nothing to with assumptions or experience.
It is only about logic. If something sells extremely well on all different platforms, then it is a good product. I think this is a fact that does not need to be discussed. Then if the same product does NOT sell on facebook, then it became suddenly a bad product?? Or the problem is that the ad does not work? Well, the ad itself works, it is displayed to many targeted people for a low price. But what not works is conversion. This so called "impulse driver traffic" is not converting. It worked for 4-5 people here, but not for all the others. I do not encourage anyone from trying, I just tell my experiences and get the facts streight. I would be more than happy to post I made xxx orders a day, but this is not the truth. And I won't ever post lies.

Hey I want to thank Franklin, Lewy2k, & Sythix... Your comments here have been really helpful.

I found a pretty good niche...I am still under but I have sales.

I have a few questions:

1. What is a good metric to know if the ad set is not performing well. CPC? Conversion cost? Etc..
2. What is a good dollar amount to test an ad set before killing it? ( I am stuck on my sale price number = $8)
3. I have a targeted ad campaign. I have done split test by testing States, Desktop & mobile, & age groups... Is there anything else I could try to test my ad sets with?
4. I am a bit confused on the scaling part, Seems like the ad sets that I had that were performing well, The cost per conversion is going up.

Any tips on scaling and targetting would be much appreciated guys.

You need to quit this 40% conversion stuff. Likes mean nothing, don't call them conversions..... they are not conversions and never will be.

Congrats on the sales :)

1. As for metrics it really just depends on the niche etc. This would be idea, it's from a friend of mine and I have no idea what hes selling but hes killing right now with $0.02 CPCs! https://gyazo.com/d0d0afcb065fc946c611dd8089baef1f

Anyhow there is really no ideal metric. The lower the cpcs and higher the conversion rate the better but it's hard to tell without knowing niches. I was always aiming for under $2.50 per conversions and sometimes would settle for $2.50-3. From the image you will see the guys conversion rate is over $4 but I think he sells higher priced items. As long as there is a good enough profit then that's good.

2. With adverts the first 24 hours are basicly a dud. facebook doesn't know what to do with it so expect the first 24 hours to be wasted money. I would then go onto running for about 3 days before choosing winners. If I set mine at $10 per day then i would spend around $30-$40. The higher you set the price the faster you will get optimised results however doesn't always work out if the niche hasn't been tested yet. What do you by mean stuck? sorry didn't understand that bit.

3. You could try testing cities or even cities in different counties. This will bring the reach down a lot however sometimes gems can be found to make a quick buck. Also with ages try under 18 at the lowest point. so maybe 16. sometimes this becomes a lot cheaper because other people don't advertise in that age group. So for example 16-30 can make a big difference from 18-30. You won;t get sales from the 16-18s but it can keep the price down. Same goes for the other way. For example instead of 30-50 you can do 30-60 and that can make a good difference. this of course depends on factors like the niche etc but it's another good way of optimising.

4. How many do you have in your audience atm? Per advert.

Hey guys, looking for some advice on how to proceed. I picked 9 products (have around 20 on the site in total) and made Facebook ads for each one, with the intention of seeing which ones have the most interest. Of the 9, 1 seems to be an epic failure with a $1.26 cpc. The three that seem promising are at $0.09 cpc, and two at $0.17. I'm thinking that with some split testing and further focusing, I should be able to bring those down to a reasonable amount, right?

I have a few questions; hopefully some of you can give me some feedback.

i) The link I've used in Facebook is to the specific product page. Is that what others are doing? Even though I've done this, it seems that many people (13 clicks) landed on my front page, and 6 landed on /password. How can I avoid that?

ii) I think I installed the pixel correctly, and pasted the code to track completed sales. Looking at the number of conversions, it's definitely not sales (since I didn't make any sales), but I don't think it's clicks either. Not sure what it's tracking when it says "conversions."

iii) Looking at Shopify, 7 customers (about 12%) added to cart, and 0 attempted checkout (the 2 attempts were me). Looks like I've had somewhere between 40 and 60 visits to the site from Facebook, so the fact that I have no sales... is that just because of the low conversion rate (I believe Sythix said they get a sale for every 50 or so clicks), or because my site is not up to scratch? How much have you guys put into your product descriptions and such?

For now, the plan is to pick say the 3 best products and do some split-testing on them to see if I can reduce cpc a bit. BTW, these cpcs are in CAD$. It looks to me like they can be brought down with targeting and testing, but I'm a little nervous as to why no one has bought yet. There are so many variables on the site, it would be hard to narrow down... is it the overall look, the logo, the colour, the description, the pictures?

A total reach of 800 isn't really enough to see if the adverts are working or not however there are other things you can try.

The quitting at the shipping screen seems to be an issue for a few people so there are a few things you can do to tweak this.

Make the price on the item a little higher and lower shipping cost. This way you will get people who are not leaching for a free product. (sometimes specific niches are full of leeches)

Put a markup on the item and just sell it like any store would. People are having success getting $1-5 items then selling them for $19.99 with free shipping. People are also having success with other price ranges.

basicly just mess around with item shipping prices and free shipping and see what you come up with. The free item and upsell on the shipping is working for some people and not for others. For the ones who had trouble I've seen them turn it into sales by tweaking pricing etc.

Synthix probably gets those stats because he already has a passionate following so it's not really a metric that should be compared to FB advertising. He doesn't use FB. With FB adverts there is quite a bit of tweaking involved and enticing to get people to purchase.

As for the landing on the password page it shouldn't be there is you have unlocked the site.

MAke sure you have proper paper work and so do your suppliers

Well, it is conversion rate on post engagements, not conversion rates on website clicks or sales.
This is already what is strange with this method, people like and comment about the product, but do not even bother going to the website. Not even for free products. It says "pay only for S&H", but maybe shipping is only $1? They are even too lazy to check it out....

Once again, if all you get are likes and shares with no people clicking to buy... then your niche sucks. Move on to a new one. You're beating a dead horse.

Hmm but this happens with every niche I tried. Really annoying that the recent niche also does not work, because as I told several time, it works everywhere EXCEPT on facebook.
Also from some posts above I see that one guy had 19 sales from almost 600 visitors. For 19 sales I would maybe make a profit of $100. But to get 500 visitors (not clicks, likes, shit) I would have to pay far more than $100. When I tried website conversion ads, most of the time for $5 I got 5-7 visitors, so this is pointless.
Also sythix said he uses an IG account and gets 1 sale for 100 visitors. For him it does not matter because it is his IG and he does not have to pay for advertising, but if you use fb ads and get 1 sale for 100 visitors, your ad spent is 10x your profit.

Likes and comments mean nothing. I like and comment on things on FB all the time just because.... doesn't mean I'm interested in what I'm liking.

Ok so that means that it makes no sense to do ads for post engagements, right? Because they only do this: post ENGAGEMENTS, which is likes and comments. They are not optimized for clicks to a website or to purchase conversions.
