The Ultimate Guide To Ranking A Website Without Building Backlinks

Does this mean that exact matches of the searched phrase appear first, then the related phrases ?

No, to put it simply Google organises the search engine results pages (SERPs) using its algorithm, which takes numerous factors into consideration. Because of this, the top ranking sites could have the exact keyword or they could have an LSI variant.

Thanks for sharing this, nice article.

So basically, I don't have to build ANY external links to my site and I'll rank?

Do I understand you correctly?

Not even social media outreach?

Social signals would help tremendously if you're going for this type of 'no link building' site. I can speak from experience, had a celebrity site last year, my writer was writing and publishing 1 article a day, absolutely no links created or bought for that site, just socials signals for the more important posts, the ones with more searches or trending in google (paid signals) and also posting my posts to (facebook, twitter, stumble, tumblr). 1 Year later the site was making $500 to $700 a month, sold it - the guy who bought it still thanks me to this day as the traffic and earnings increased, he didn't build any links either - all were natural, big celeb sites started linking to posts.

wow! thanks for the post dear! You have covered the entire topic quite impressively I am sure, these practices are enough for a good ranking however a few back links can help in achieving even more wonderful results

Yes, for most of the sites, I used no links while I was testing this and relied on ranking for many very small keywords for traffic during that time (although I admittedly promoted one site using social media, but it didn't help much). However, building quality links in conjunction with my guide (this is really just an on-page SEO guide with a slight focus on content marketing).
When we talk about keywords and keywords research, does this mean the on page keyword, the post keyword , or the main website keyword?
Post keywords. While I was doing this with a few sites, I used the brand names of the sites as the main keywords, and these keywords usually didn't have any searches per month.
Thanks. But one moment more - you should control full indexation of your site. Don't wait for google, do some "magic" to index all your pages quickly.
You bring up a good point! I usually use the "Submit to index" option using the Google Search Consoles "Fetch As Google" tool to accomplish this (in addition to submitting a sitemap).

I'm glad you liked the guide and you are correct, you can boost your rankings even further by building high quality backlinks or by procuring them through content marketing (or whatever method you prefer).

Very informative guide, your tips are awesome. Great job and appreciate you sharing your knowledge for us, newbies will surely love this.

Another good finds. This is a perfect article that every newbie should consider reading.

Now I am confused.

How do they rank when they don't have any searches per month?

Let's say I start a fictitious company and website called "flibergengi". As of the time that I created this post, Flibergengi has 0 results shown for it and receives 0 searches each month. Initially, the only result shown will be your website "flibergengi.com, although over time, sites like scamadviser and WooRank will begin ranking below your result for the keyword. During this time, your brand keyword will most likely have 0 searches a month due to being new, but it will still display results due to other websites targeting the keyword. As your brand begins building a reputation, more people will begin searching for it.

Another way to think about this is to do a Google search for the keyword "rocktonamous". You'll see 3,420 results including a Myspace and a Facebook page, however if you look at the keyword in the Google Keyword Planner, you'll see that the average searches/month is "-" which I like to interpret as "less than 10" or "not enough data" but in this case, we'll say it's 0. So, despite the keyword receiving 0 searches each month, it still has pages ranking for it. Edit (I forgot to finish the example): So, if someone wanted to create a brand site for "rocktonamous", in time the keyword would see an increase in searches per month.

What is the use of ranking a website when I use a keyword that has zero searches? I should be looking for a keyword with volume searches then see if I can compete with other sites.

My last post stated why someone would target their own brand keyword on their homepage/as their main keyword; as your brand begins to develop a reputation, more people will search for it, thus leading to an increase in searches per month for that specific branded keyword as the brand starts becoming more popular.

I'm not sure how else to explain the concept of brand keywords. Unless you have a local business, online brand, or clients with either one of those, just don't worry about brand keywords (in fact, forget I even brought them up). If you want to, you can just read these articles to get a better understanding of targeting brand keywords (before you ask, my original guide has nothing to do with brand keywords):
https://yoast.com/branding-keyword-strategy/
http://www.brickmarketing.com/define-branded-keywords.htm
Branded keywords are used by searchers that have already heard of your brand or business through other marketing efforts and are looking for a website for more information. The primary goal of an SEO campaign is to improve traffic from an audience that hasn't yet heard of the brand or business (using non-branded keywords) however it is still important to include branded keywords in the mix, especially on interior "About Us" type pages so that searchers using branded keywords can easily access the correct page.
I should be looking for a keyword with searches then see if I can compete with other sites.
That's exactly what part 2 of my guide covers.

Do you know ways or services to increase the number of searches for brand and to emulate user hapiness? I guess they could use only data from chrome?

Your article is great. This is good for those people who are just starting up without the complications of building several backlinks to rank but naturaly create backlinks. I'll check this out with one of my tasks.
